Big money flows into 10 battleground Senate races as GOP defends its majority

With less than two months to the crucial November election, a handful of battleground Senate races have captured an outsized share of campaign cash in the 2018 midterm cycle.

As of mid-September, roughly 40 percent of the more than half a billion dollars in direct contributions raised by Senate candidates had flowed into just 10 races. They include contests for open seats in Arizona and Tennessee. The rest are for races in which incumbents are defending seats: in Florida, Indiana, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Texas and West Virginia.

And some 70 percent of the $185 million in spending by outside groups had gone to the same 10 of the 35 senate races in the 2018 cycle, according to a CNBC analysis of data from the Center for Responsive Politics.

The GOP has 8 seats to defend....the RATS have 25, including the two so-called “independents,” Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Angus King of Maine.

The GOP will win a number of Senate seats. I heard GOP challenger John James in Michigan is trailing the RAT incumbent by only one point in that state. Good news! Hope he wins.

For any living in those states, please volunteer. I've met John James; he's the "right stuff!" We need lots of help, and it's fun!

The President proved its message and good old grassroots rallies with an effective digital campaign led by Parscale. He was outspent by billions of you add in 95% of media being against him...You just aren’t going to polish the turd of the Saccone,Moore, Balderson types...Politics is local and you need a good candidate with the drive of Trump.

Oh if you only were right, my FRiend. But I am sad to say-—

Detroit News poll Sept.7 Dem.Stabenow 56% to James 33% . // Dem ahead by 33 points!)

Real Clear Politics rolling average now 18.8% lead for Dem.Stabenow. The people here voted for Trump, for gosh sakes, in 2016. Economy taking off. What in the heck is the matter with these clowns in my state of Michigan?

On Debbie Stabenow. Here 1st term she passed not one bill with her name. Made a few speeches and voted with the Dems all the way.
Funny: Three times when I heard a WJR radio call in show I heard this stupid, monotonous, truly uninformed woman talking too long and I thought “get her off” thinking she was a sidewalk supermarket lot random interview “what do you people here think?” average dimwit. No. It was Senator Debbie Stabenow!! Dumb as a fence post. And she goes to Washington DC!!

Same thing that's happening in Texas with O'Rourke, who's been preaching the religion of dope for years. "A spokesperson for Sen. Stabenow told VICE: "It's time to decriminalize medical and recreational marijuana."

Poll: Majority of Michigan voters support legalizing marijuana

Conservative candidates should promise to legalize dope for the dope fiends who can still vote so far (those who haven’t been caught well enough, yet), then make sure that they don’t get their hands on anything that can be dangerous to others (like machinery, weapons, dangerous animals, ability to vote, etc.).

23 points, not 33 - but your point obviously remains.

He has also raised very little money. He had $900,000 cash on hand to Stabenow’s $6 million in the last report. He needs $10 million and he would have a real shot - he’s far more than just a “generic Republican” if he can get his name and face out there.

If there was some way I could get a message to President Trump I would ask him not to just tweet out congratulatory messages but include a link to their fundraising page that would make a huge difference. He has tens of millions of followers on social media - if just a small fraction of them - one million - saw a post with the link to the fundraising page and gave an average donation of a mere 10 bucks for each Senate candidate, that’s it - every race would be in play - and that almost certainly would happen. Example: “John James is a great candidate for Senate in Michigan but he needs your help - could you stop by this page and send a few bucks his way? Thanks!” He would probably have a $10 million war chest in just a day or two to be able to wage a full campaign. Then do the same for Josh Hawley in Missouri, Patrick Morrisey in WV (who also has horrendous fundraising numbers vs. Manchin), and so on - at least for all of the candidates in the 10 states he carried where Democrats are running for re-election. Then we are in business. Millions of people making very small donations becomes a massive campaign war chest for media buys and GOTV efforts - it just has to be organized somehow - and President Trump’s social media following is already ready-made organization.

Totally agree with your take on Morrisey in WV.

Manchin has carpet-bombed the airwaves in WV, painting Morrisey as this evil person intent on taking health care away from people with pre-existing conditions. Oh, that’s when he’s not lobbying for big drug companies, or carpetbagging in from New Jersey. Manchin (in a Harley-Davidson branded shirt, no less) has dragged out the centerfire rifle to indicate he at least knows how to hold a firearm.

Never mind Manchin votes with Schumer and takes money from Michael Bloomberg. Why “It’s all about WV” according to his campaign spots.

If I want happy horsedung like what are in Manchin’s campaign ads, I’ll find myself a happy horse.

Not sure what polls you're listening to but all the rest have Stabenow up by double digits.
