With the sun bearing down, Norm and Kathy Daviess stood in the shade of a prison wall topped with coiled razor wire, waiting for three immigrants to come out.

KEYWORDS:
Almost half of those sent to the prison outside Sheridan, an economically struggling town 50 miles (80 kilometers) southwest of Portland, on May 31 are from India, many of them Sikhs — part of an influx of Indian nationals entering the U.S. in recent years.

There are over one billion people in India and they all want to move here. Maybe Oregon can take them all.

My father was a contrary responder. Dealing with him, I unintentionally learned a lot about politics. I am convinced that a lot of people are political contrary responders. It doesn’t matter what facts or logic you present people with. It doesn’t matter that you can show them with numbers how their lives would be better with policy x instead of policy y. Whatever you attempt to convince them of, they will respond with the opposite. People who go out of their way to help illegal invaders over America’s own citizens are, in my view, contrary responders. They aren’t logical or reasonable, but emotional and argumentative. They are demonstrating, “see, I’m right and you’re wrong.”

One thing I learned in dealing with my father is, I can never be right. The same is true in dealing with liberals. You can never be right. They are too invested in whatever reality they want to see. The reality they see is the one where they are right; in possession of the moral high ground, and you are wrong and morally bankrupt.

It’s the difference between seeking the truth and just trying to “win” an argument. In the latter case, if your mind is not changed, you are a “winner”.

Yes. In the liberal world, the U.S. government pays for everything. And raise taxes to pay for even more. And when necessary, use more public debt (ask Alan Greenspan). The USA must feed the world, house the world, fund the Paris Accords and no longer have jobs as all U.S. jobs are exported to the world.

Not one of those things can be supported in reality in any shape or form (except that “printing” of money will continue until we’re Zimbabwe).

But it does not matter to Democrats.

What’s not to like? (from 7 years ago)

Hey, U.S. Gov’t. Print $25 billion for me. I’d like that today, please. Before the money is completely worthless.

That’s when you start mocking them. People like that secretly have fragile egos and can’t stand to be mocked.
