U.S. Military Sending Miles and Miles of Concertina Wire to SW Border
CNS News ^ | 10-30-2018 | Susan Jones

Posted on 10/30/2018 3:51:01 PM PDT by Kevin in California

"By the end of this week, we will deploy over 5,200 soldiers to the Southwest Border," as part of Operation Faithful Patriot, Air Force Gen. Terrence J. O'Shaughnessy, head of the U.S. Northern Command, told a news conference on Monday.

"That is just the start of this operation. We'll continue to adjust the numbers and inform you of those."

The 5,200 active duty troops are in addition to the 2,092 National Guard troops deployed earlier this year. The soldiers will "harden the points of entry and address key gaps in areas around the points of entry."

I support land mines at the site without posting “Danger” signs.

Razor Ribbon. We had it on the perimeter fences at the top and bottom, at the prison I worked at. In between we had a microwave intrusion system installed. I’ve read that people have tried to escape from prisons that have razor ribbon, by throwing blankets, jackets, etc., over it, and then scrambling over the fence. Dumb asses will still get cut.

They’ll just throw bodies over it, and climb over the bodies.

If in the US side, then the kid should be removed by child services, the parents arrested for gross negligence and wanton disregard for the safety of a child, incarcerated and lose their parental rights.
Just throw the law book at them.

In Vietnam, two of us in an hour would set up a field camp with three rows of concertina wire surrounding out combat engineer platoon large enough to protect men, tents, vehicles, and equipment with a fire zone to ward off attackers. The wire goes down fast.

Perhaps they can just leave it in place?

The wire goes down fast.

LOL! That it does. And if the Army runs out there's always WalMart. 200 feet for $34.99. Expedited delivery available. God Bless America.

Wire is worthless unless you:

1. Mine/Boobytrap it 2. Provide Crew Served Weapons Overwatch

True. It can be cut with a torch or bolt cutters but backed up troops and Border Patrol; it can still be a good deterrent. All of this is just a stop-gap measure anyway. The real deterrent will be all the changes to the immigration laws that desperately needed and a better border barrier.

The Mexicans will dig more tunnels and cut through the barriers but if there are no jobs to go to and no citizenship for their newborn's and severe punishments for getting caught as an illegal then they will stop and even self deport. Enforcement must be deadly serious though.

It will at least slow these parasites down a little.

A good way to make a point for sure.

1) thank you for your service -—People with your experience and attitude are what we need now in this country.

2) If somebody is stupid enough to be impressed by what they “learn” on CNN they deserve the life of bumbling mediocrity they live.

3) If illegals don’t like the wire then stay home. Nobody makes them invade us.

My homepage looked good once. The pics were great.

I’m to darn lazy to mess with it. It’s at least 14 years old.

Thanks for your input. We all need to stick together on this.

It’s about time. I was advocating for triple strand concertina wire as an initial barrier along the border back when Trump was campaigning on “build the wall”.

>>And believe me, THAT STUFF WORKS!<<

I believe that the President was not earlier informed or aware of the effectiveness of closing the border with the use of concertina wire. He is apparently aware of it now, and I hope our forces still time to get it installed wherever it needs to be to stop these invasions.

>>this is all we can do really....put up concertina wire.....<<

While the wall wasn’t being built, that wire could have been strung across the entire border several times since Trump won the Presidency, but it wasn’t done. Now there’s a mad rush to get it done. Hope it’s not too late.

“And believe me, THAT STUFF WORKS!”

The VC & NVA used to strip down to a loincloth. Then they’d run up to the concertina carrying a long bamboo pole. They’d lie on their backs with the pole on their chests running 6 feet or so above their heads with the tip touching the ground.

They would slide the tip under the concertina, then crawl on their backs, pushing the concertina up enough to slither under it. No clothing to catch on the sharp points. This was not too difficult to do with plain barbed wire concertina. However, the “German Tape” (razor wire) was much more difficult.
