If you OD on opioids, it means your opioid usage was not of legitimate medical use.
It means, you were a Junkie.
I have had operations all my life- having to go on pain meds for almost all of them- back in the day, they would give you a 3 month prescription- I took them all as prescribed (usually 5 or at most 10 mg every 4 hours)- and when the prescription was over- that was it- no issues- I even went on opioid for 3 years, and quit very easily- but I admit i may be somewhat unusual in this respect- However, for the most part, my meds were either only 5 mg or 10- people who are getting addicted are taking upwards of 40 mg at a time- and if they are taking that much each dose- then they are in some very serious pain- and likely can’t even function without the relief- I would think that someone with that level of pain would have the thinking that it would be better to be addicted than suffer the extreme debilitating pain that cripples them-
People on massive doses (ie 30-40 mg every 4 hours or so) do face the possibility of overdose, but then again, as mentioned, life without such pain relief would be hell on earth- people simply do not understand the devastating physical AND psychological effects of extreme pain- they get a ‘back ache’ and find relief with a Tylenol and think that everyone just has to take Tylenol and they will be fine- because hey, they found relief, therefore everyone will-

Yet that's not really happening which is why I question these numbers. I believe there is an agenda behind the constant "Opioid crisis" drumbeat. It's strange how the media recognizes the impending doom of Opioids yet a full on third world invasion is not even a problem much less a crisis.

The left is trying to make people believe it is doctors writing legitimate prescriptions for these drugs that is killing all these people. That could not be farther from the truth. The Truth is it's mexican drug cartels and our open border invasion that is killing people. The left's goal is exactly as you stated. To make legitimate Opioid drugs unavailable to those who truly need them. In the end people in constant pain will be far more accepting of the lefts solution, "assisted suicide". Yes the left wants to kill the sick and elderly because they cost too much money and they can't be productive little slaves.

the numbers are nowhere near that high- that would be 3.2 million people a year dying of opioids- in 10 years that would be 32 million people? No- the number is around 60,000- and that includes deaths from all opioids, legal and illegal- mostly illegal-
The wall should be built today, I agree. Lots of Fentanyl and derivatives are ordered from Chinese underground labs by Mexican drug cartels and then carried over the border.
However, Fentanyl is apparently really easy to buy on-line, and they ship it right through the postal system to US customers.
Exactly, yet many people, even on this board are just accepting these numbers as legit. They are being calculated by government and like everything else we get from government it's an outright lie.
And to expand on my theory: If the left can put the blame on doctors they can set the stage for government oversight of all treatments. Again leading to not allowing treatment for chronic illness patients and the elderly further clearing the way for elimination of those not useful to society. EVIL !!
