An anti-vaccination 'hotspot' near Portland declares an emergency over measles outbreak

A quickly escalating measles outbreak around Portland, Oregon, has led health officials in nearby Clark County, Washington, to declare a public health emergency as they warn that people infected with the highly contagious virus since the beginning of the year have visited schools and churches, a dentist's office, an Amazon locker pickup station, a Costco, and an Ikea.

What about freedom? What about faith? It is not the fault of conservative American Christians that 3rd world diseased masses are pouring into the country. Even President Trump has problems with forced vaccinations!? I am a former US Army officer with 9 healthy unvaccinated children. Some grown with Engineering and nursing degrees. Would you send jack boots to take away my children because we believe Jesus Christ protects his people? You would malign my family because we do not have faith in big government and big pharma?! A. Vaccines get far too much credit for eliminating disease.

B. The risks are manifestly not infinitesimal [note correct spelling].

1. Louis Pasteur, with his Germ Theory, was largely mistaken, and reportedly said as much on his death bed: “The germ is nothing; the terrain is everything.” He was referring to his long debate with Antoine Beauchamp and his Terrain Theory: that diet and hygiene are more important that exposure to germs. (In fact, we are constantly exposed to germs, and a certain amount of natural exposure – versus the traumatic shock of unnatural exposure via vaccine – stimulates the immune system.) The use of probiotics, now often prescribed by mainstream medical doctors (who once dismissed their use as quackery) is an example of Terrain Theory in action.

2. The introduction of vaccines is roughly coeval with the development of modern plumbing and sanitation, which had a powerfully beneficial effect upon reducing contagion.

3. The introduction of vaccines is also roughly coeval with the practice of doctors washing their hands before surgery, another practice that had a powerfully beneficial effect on lowering mortality rates, including childbirth deaths.

4. Even stipulating that vaccine use may be sometimes beneficial, modern vaccines are clusters of powerful doses in one – many times stronger than a single one c. 1960 – far too potent for the developing immune system of a child with a body mass a fraction of that of an adult. (The same doctors who do not hesitate to give a young infant a massive multiple vaccine caution parents not to feed honey to a child under two years of age because of the child’s undeveloped immune system!)

5. The very existence of a semi-secret Vaccine Court – The Office of Special Masters of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims – which pays off, on a no-fault basis, parents of children killed or harmed by vaccines, alone argues that vaccines are dangerous to a significant portion of the population, and that this industry is literally fascistic: the government colluding with business to protect both from the citizenry.

6. Always follow the money: The Terrain Theory did not readily appeal to any business interests in the Nineteenth Century; the Germ Theory did, through the development of salable vaccines as a patentable, profitable product. The Pharmaceutical industry is one of the most wealthy and powerful in the world – with a vast lobbying army.

7. This is an issue in which many rightists hypocritically take the same ruthless, aggressive, fanatical, categorical position on espousing and enforcing vaccines upon the entire electorate that leftists take on espousing and enforcing unilateral governmental action upon the electorate on account of so-called global warming: that it is settled science, that personal (especially parental) liberty is automatically abrogated by the issue, and that anyone who opposes it should be punished or imprisoned.

8. Vaccination is unarguably a traumatic, invasive procedure, inflicted upon very young, fragile, yet otherwise healthy children. Whether for specifically religious reasons or/and for more practical concerns about the hazards of such a practice, parents have a right to have a say in what is done to their own children; yet in this case, the rightists are joining with the leftists to compel blind obedience to the all-powerful state, because in this instance the rightists are as mindlessly afraid about potential contagious disease as the leftists are about supposed global warming. This is a liberty issue, whether such supposed conservatives admit it or not. Home-schooling, gender reassignment (so called), compulsory vaccination: Parental rights are under militant assault from both sides of the aisle.

Ironic that idiots here are claiming “anti-vax” is somehow leftist. Every Dem presidential candidate was pro-vax. Virtually every D here in the Texas legislature is for mandatory vax. Majority of Republicans in TX legislature are for personal and parental choice.

There is virtually no double-blind safety or efficacy testing of vaccines.

Most “vaccine preventable” disease death rates were down 90-95% before vacation was introduced.

Too many is an understandable problem. We have not experienced that since our children have been grown and gone for 20 years or more.

A flu shot for a dog? never heard of such. Never saw a dog with the flu either. I suppose it is there for someone foolish enough to buy it. It may not take all kinds but we sure enough have them.

I had the old pneumonia vaccine several years ago and, because I don’t like to get more than one at a time, I was planning to get the new pneumonia vaccine shortly after finishing the second dose of the shingles vaccine.

Too late. I’m recovering from what my doctor calls “full-blown pneumonia”.

This illness has been extremely serious and weakening.

Thank goodness for modern medicine.

I don’t recommend taking chances with pneumonia and as soon as I’m well enough I’ll get the new pneumonia vaccine.
