The lawyer for the 2 men who were arrested and then released in connection with the alleged attack on Jussie Smollett says the new evidence that has changed this case is something her clients told cops.
Attorney Gloria Schmidt was at the Chicago police station Friday night, after her clients, Ola and Abel Osundairo, were released from custody. Schmidt said the "new evidence" that triggered the release of her clients was something they knew and presumably told cops.
Our photog asked Schmidt flat out if the "attack" was staged, and she answered obliquely, saying there were moving parts and she didn't want to speculate.
As we reported, Ola and Abel both worked on "Empire," and Abel was especially friendly with Jussie.
And, something else interesting ... she wouldn't answer why her clients went to Nigeria the day of the alleged attack, but added it was a "great question."
She said she didn't want to speak for her clients because they had a story to tell "when the time is right." That clearly sounds like they have inside information about what went down at Jussie's apartment building.
Meanwhile, the police are trying to find a way to tactfully say, “We don’t want gay black Chicago men to worry about getting assaulted, because we know one particular gay black man who’s a drama queen and a liar about that.”
Where it comes to these hoaxed hate crimes, yes. A lot of those who've been caught hoaxing hate crimes have been cited, paid fines, etc. None has done jail time, as far as I know.
I wonder if the new evidence is DNA sample from the gay book up that really happened.
It seems significant that Smollett lawyered-up right after the Nigerians talked to the police. Since the Nigerians weren’t charged with anything, it sounds like maybe Smollett got them to participate in the hoax without their really knowing what was going on. For example, maybe he asked them to buy him some rope or cord, or to walk down the street in his vicinity for “protection,” thereby creating the “persons of interest” in the photo.
Note to Juicy - have you teeth removed BEFORE you get to prison.
Glad to hear there are at least some punishments for hate crime hoaxes. Usually “journalists” lose interest after a hoax is revealed and don’t bother to follow up because it doesn’t fit the narrative.
“This Smollett guy had better hope he doesnt wind up doing time for his little stunt. His story has completely fallen apart.”
Doing time for Smollett is like a visit to Club Med — so many men, so little time.
This is all a publicity stunt. I wont mention the name of that TV show that this stunt is promoting, but a few years ago another actress on that show also benefited from an alleged crime to garner sympathy and promote that TV show.

“Lock him up for 6 months”
Will they send the SWAT team in the middle of the night to arrest him? Will CNN be given a “heads up?” /s

The noose touch should have been the first clue that this was a hoax. Has there ever been a race baiter noose story that has NOT been a hoax? Usually some college kid hanging it on his dorm door with KKK scrawled on the door for a little victimhood attention. Race baiters need to get a little more creative with their hoax props... Perhaps a MAGA guy in black face. Oh, that’s right, Virginia’s Dem political set has a monopoly on that particular prop.
Publicity stunt to raise the show’s ratings?
Paid for by the producers?
