Democratic Socialism = Oxymoron ?
If I was taught that socialism meant I could live in a perfect world, and have everything I ever wanted for free, I’d vote for socialism too.
Well, I think they are misguided.
But, when you think of the world they’ve been raised in: Their parents and grandparents were raised in the 80’s and 90’s where money was everything. Tney were influenced by not having fathers to guide them. Their sports heroes are measured by salary, and not achievements (unless you live in Tom Brady Land).
And the number one representative of the Gen Zs is a girl who makes a billion off from lipstick she sells on social media for being an “It” girl.
They were told they have to go to school. They will get a good job. Nope. They are told they have to go to Iraq and Afghanistan and Syria, or they are not patriotic.
I have kids in that generation. They are successful in their own right—but they are generally getting screwed by their surrounding culture. I see their peers from high school succeeding because they were educated well. But I see their cohorts floundering because they just don’t know how to compete. Competition is not a negative word.
They have been driven by social media to a standard that cannot be achieved—and anyone sticking their head above is scored as “selling out.”
I would hate to be that age today. Its possible to “win” but you have to block out a lot of crap.
We have a real life example of our future under socialism in Venezuela.
The indoctrination centers have been successful.
These young people are both ignorant and stupid. It is absolutely necessary to cruelly mock and ridicule Sanders, AOC and their ilk whenever the opportunity arises.

Yup. It bugs me to see so many laughing at AOC on these threads when among younger voters most seem to agree with her. We can’t afford to laugh this off. It’s bigger than her.
Let’s see how they view it when they find out THEY will have to pay for it.
True capitalism is the only truly moral economic system.
At its core, it is about cooperation and the freedom to choose to cooperate, or not, with others as a truly independent agent.

Ironically, when people freely act to serve their own interests they serve the interest of everyone. Capitalism recognizes the reality of that truism. Socialism, on the other hand, is based on a fantasy that becomes an ugly nightmare of oppression and dependence.
And Huey Long would have been president if Carl Weiss hadn’t done the Louisiana and USA a favor and assassinated him.
Don’t underestimate these people. They appeal to the worst in a lot of voters.
Rush Limbaugh said it best.
