Colorado is the latest state to join a group pledging to elect presidents based on who wins the national popular vote
Colorado has become the latest state and the first swing state to join a group pledging to elect presidents based on who wins the national popular vote. Eleven other states and the District of Columbia have signed onto the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, an agreement that requires those states to select their presidential electors based on who wins the most individual votes nationwide, regardless of which candidate wins in the state.
Colorado Gov. Jared Polis signed a bill Friday bringing the state into the compact.
The compact only goes into effect once states with at least 270 electoral votes the number needed to win a presidential election have signed on. While the addition of Colorado brings the electoral count of states in the compact to 181, reaching the 270 point before the 2020 election appears unlikely.
Supporters say the concept would create a fairer basis for presidential elections by essentially going around the Electoral College and creating a system where each individual vote counts the same. It would also motivate potential voters in non-swing states to come out to polls, supporters say.

How about a call-in, text-in vote like American Idol!!!
Colorado government to its citizens: “Screw you and your vote... we’re going with what California and NY say.”
If a person is an idiot, then this is a GREAT idea.
So if you don’t live in wither Denver or Boulder, your vote won’t mean anything.
Lawsuit, anyone??
Colorado ping to ya, George76.
Does overturning the electoral college requires a constitutional amendment?
This is subverting the clear intention of the Constitution
the governor and the politicians who sponsored and voted yes for this bill (now law) should be tried for treason and executed immediately upon conviction. IMO
I’m going to LMAO if Trump wins the popular vote.
Americans are so uneducated, and so uninterested.
I have a good friend, a mature, smart, hard working kind of guy. The subject of the electoral college came up the other day. He thought it was all garbage and it should just be the popular vote.
I explained to him that if it was simply the popular vote, California and New York would pick our presidents.
He seemed skeptical, but I could tell he was going to give it some thought.
Dad would say, These democrats are succeeding in making all votes worthless
I can see the argument that this is blatantly unconstitutional, but the only states that will possibly go for this are solid blue. At the end of the day isn’t this just more mental masturbation from the Progressive Left?
Beyond that, if a non Leftist presidential candidate somehow won the popular vote (assuming that illegal and fraudulent voting was somehow eliminated) is there any doubt that all of these states would suddenly reverse this?
If I were a Colorado voter, I would challenge this because it takes the value of my vote away and gives it to others in other states. Can’t see how that would be Constitutional.
I don’t really have a problem with this...as long as those states who joined the Union under an agreement, in which the Electoral College was a portion of the agreement, are allowed to leave the Union if the Electoral College becomes essentially null and void.
ELEXIT
Boston TV station: “Clearly the Biden-Warren ticket has won Massachusetts by a big margin, but Trump-Pence did win the popular vote nationally.Mass. electoral votes will be awarded to Donald Trump.”
Im going to LMAO if Trump wins the popular vote.

Itll be funny to watch the screaming snowflakes when blue states are forced to flip their own vote to Trump.
Why not ... because the Marxists/Leftists Democrats know it’s easier to collect the popular votes in a very small segment of the country, rather than winning states across the USA, with a broad-based, cross-country appeal and support.
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.
