Over the past several years, weve seen an increasingly persistent crackdown on conservative voices by big tech companies. Why? Its simple they know that most Americans dont buy into their agenda. They want to make conservatives feel isolated, as if nobody else agrees with us. Thats where a new piece of software known as Dissenter comes in.

I’m old school on tech stuff. Comments please on use of ‘Dissenter’

No censorship like self-censorship.
Moving on.
Works fine for me.
I use it to criticize and to praise.
It is not too hard to learn to use it.
TWB
EU just passed Article 13. Kicks on it 2 years.
We can unburn books?
It appears to allow comments but those comments will only be visible to other Dissenter users and not the general population the website hosts. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how it appears to me. I have the app on my browser but I haven’t felt a need to use it yet. I actually forgot it was there.
Come on now. Im not easily bamboozled.
It says with just a simple browser extension, you can literally comment on any page on the internet.
Does this mean that ONLY people with the browser extension can see these comments, or are the comments shown to ALL viewers of the original URL?
Dont try to fool me. If these comments are actually placed on the original web page, then the browser extension is writing information on the original server of the original web page. Please dont take me for an idiot.
My conclusion is that only people with the browser extension can see the Dissenter comments, and that is not what the article wants you to believe. So the article is a fraud. Do not try to pull the wool over my eyes.
Just saw the posting by Boomer. Boomer says essentially the same thing as me.
Yep, that's right.
This is just shouting into the echo chamber.
The EU passed Article 11, too....
Eventually there will be a preference cascade, and the echo chamber will defacto break into the normal stream of communications.
Then the people who would deny us free speech will scream!
Both are fundamental human rights, and these are things that the nation must champion.
I hope the US has a plan.
Through that whole article I can’t find where it says that anyone can actually see the comments you put on a page with Dissenter. Do those comments just go on your copy of the page in your browser and nowhere else? Is it real or just self gratification?
You don't know what you are talking about. I have posted on dissenter and don't have a browser extension. I don't use a phone for internet, but I doubt any extension would be needed for a phone either.
From the article:
"Using a simple desktop browser extension, conservatives can literally bypass all of the big tech companies trying to censor us, and have an open, free discussion. Even news sites that still have comments sections are known for heavily editing them. Twitter and YouTube have been accused of censoring comments, and manipulating their algorithms to suppress conservatives...Just download the extension, install it on whatever browser youre using, and voila youre now 100% free to comment on literally any URL online, with zero fear of censorship."
Why are they saying that?
This is Free Republic, minus admins and without the need to create an original post.
Our comments get out far beyond you and I here. Just ask Kristinn, Buckhead, and Jim Rob.
True, and I won't be surprised if Dissenter comments end up being quoted in media stories as well.
But the way it's being pitched in the American Thinker article and its association with Gab makes me think it will be a lot of preaching to the choir - not that I'm criticizing anyone who wants to do that...
OK. Doing a little more research it looks like there’s a web app you can log into and use to post and view comments in lieu of downloading the extension.
The article didn’t mention that.
