How Trump Lost Half of Washington
MSJ ^ | Noonan

“How did things ever get so far? I don’t know. It was so unfortunate, so unnecessary.”

—Don Corleone, “The Godfather”

I keep thinking about the dynamics the past few years between the president and what used to be called official Washington. That relationship is ugly and broken, but it could have been otherwise.

he old ambassadors were willing to give him a chance. He destabilized the whole town instead.

She speaks of the “old ambassadors”, supposedly men of influence behind the scenes of Washington who have turned against Trump. She seems to infer that these men have to be won over for anyone to be successful in governing. My response to that is screw them, the people of the U.S. are sovereign not some bunch of geriatric bureaucrats. The fundamental problem of Washington is that they’ve forgotten they exist to work for us, not the other way around. Trump doesn’t need to work to satisfy them, he works to satisfy the people of the U.S. These same “old ambassadors” are the ones that stood idly by over the last 50 years while our country was systematically infected with socialism and the ever growing burden of government upon the working man. THEY are the ones we sent Trump to Washington to remove, not to bow to them.

Peggy and her “official Washington” are so yesteryear.

The ‘official’ media is dissolving replaced by a decentralized freedom elixir.

The ‘official’ powerbrokers are dissolving replaced by the Great Awakening.

Peggy is clinging to the past. Long past time for Peggy to be put out to pasture.

What would improve DC, would be to eliminate civil service protection. Have each incoming administration fire people and replace them with other people. This would cut down on the Deep State, which benefits from bureaucrats accumulating contacts and establishing networks over years, decades, generations.

Noonan is a member of the Jennifer Rubin club.

Ugly, shriveled up, pitiful malcontents who have no place in the ever expanding optimistic republican party.

I feel more encouraged in today’s party, thanks to President Trump, than I ever have been.

Thanks to our very own POTUS Trump.

I noticed Mona Charen is also a Never Trumper. So sad, I used to like her.

Yeah, they were willing to give him a chance to capitulate to the ol’ boys-n-gals club of deceiving the public to feather their nests. When he didn’t, all hell broke loose.

Washington stopped caring about America, the Law and the People. That they’ve yet to discern that THEY are the problem will lead to far more trouble than we’ve seen at this point.

The old ambassadors were willing to give him a chance. He destabilized the whole town instead.

In other words, half of the Swamp hoped he was just BSing the Deplorables and would "come to his senses" once he came to Washington, like so many other Republicans have done.

If he lost the half which includes Noonan then he is doing it right.

This is the self-described “conservative” who thought Obama’s election was good because it would at last force conservative America into a “conversation on race.”

We sent him there to destroy Washington’s corruption and power.

This twit doesn’t like that.

OK

I prefer Trump saying to the swamp critters as the walls tumble down, this quote from The Godfather:

"Barzini's dead. So is Phillip Tattaglia. Moe Green. Stracci. Cuneo. Today, I settled all family business, so don't tell me you're innocent, Carlo. Admit what you did."

Just substitute the names for those of swamp dwellers who should be figuratively 'dead' soon.

Poor Peggy, she has completely lost sight of what is important, what is right, what is good. All these years attending the washington cocktail parties and swirling around in the glass bowl that is with the in-bred crowd that is the DC political elite, she has lost herself.

How far the mighty have fallen! From being the speech writer of one of the most popular Presidents, a man of the people, Ronald Reagan, she has lost herself in the crowd that was firmly against Pres. Reagan. She cannot open her eyes and find her way out from that desert. She has lost her mojo, her spirit, that Reagan hired her for, and now she writes inane, silly articles for the anti-people crowd. Sad indeed!

Speechwriters are like actors, they have to emulate who they speak for or the part they are playing. I would look to Peggy for her political opinions no more than I would look to the actors on MSNBC for the full truth. I am not sure they have enough information to have an informed opinion.

Oh, well. The same is true of many of his supporters.

...but he gained way more than 50% of the country. Now we just need to get the rest of them to vote so we can out weigh all the illegal immigrants who vote in Los Angeles county California.

The short version:

Trump could have turned his back on the people who elected him...

... (known as ‘pivoting’)... and half of Washington would ‘consider’ accepting him.

And the old corrupt ones who ruined the country would allow Trump into their clubs, drawing rooms, and ‘polite society as long as he kissed their rings.

What Peggy Noonan doesn’t understand is one of the reason we DID NOT elect Jeb or Hillary is because we didn’t want a someone who would ‘pivot’ toward corrupt phony ‘elites’ in Washington.
