Did a search and noting popped up so...

The California Senate moved forward Thursday in its effort to keep President Trump off the primary ballot in 2020 unless he releases his tax returns.

The state Senate approved a bill, 27-10, requiring candidates that on the presidential primary ballot to release at least five years’ worth of tax returns. This would include President Trump, who has refused to release his returns, citing that he is under audit.

"We believe that President Trump, if he truly doesn’t have anything to hide, should step up and release his tax returns,” said Democratic state Sen. Mike McGuire, one of the bill’s co-authors, reports the Associated Press.

Every GOP state senator voted against the measure.

I'd like to see any state that imposes extra-constitutional requirements on a presidential candidate have their electors excluded from the electoral college.

From your keyboard . . . to God's ears. Additionally, exclude their "popular vote", make them revert to territorial status and have their elected congress critters caucus to elect a single non voting delegate to the house like Guam or American Samoa.

Sounds like a constitutional crisis. This thing could get ugly.

Yup. This is going to be shot down in the Fed Courts just like the attempt by states to do term limits on their own.

If any state excludes a legitimate candidate from the ballot, none of its votes for any candidate should be counted. Remember when Hillary said refusal to accept an election result would endanger democracy? She was right.

Just like Putin. Ban the opposing candidate.

If this were to become standing law, the new potential requirements could be endless.

Perhaps restrictions on candidate’s beliefs, such as global warming?

At the snails pace that the fed courts act on anything anti Trump it’ll be may of 2021 before it get a hearing. Gee, have I lost faith in the judicial system for the most part? Yup.

Maybe the California Republican Party can go to a caucus system for their primary. Alternatively, on a primary ballot Trump can win as a write-in.

Write-ins rarely, if ever, win.

States cannot impose restrictions on Federal office seekers beyond what the US Constitution lays out.

You might be right, but California has already conducted two US Senate elections with no Republican on the ballot (and no write-ins allowed) via their “jungle primary” system.

I agree with this. I’m far more interested in someone who became a millionaire while in public service, rather than someone who made his billions in the public eye

“Perhaps restrictions on candidate’s beliefs, such as global warming?”

In all seriousness we shouldn’t give these people ideas. I can certainly picture a Leftist proposing that “Climate Deniers” be made ineligible to run for office.

Nobody on the ballot who can’t tap dance while juggling 3 balls and singing Catalina Magdalena Lupensteiner Wallabeiner song

I’d like to see Di Fi’s tax returns to see how much she made from special deals she crafted for herself and husband in her Senate position.

“Aren’t you glad we don’t have a national popular vote election? In such a scenario, these grandstanding legislators would have to be listened to, as it stands, who cares if Trump is on the ballot in California or Illinois come November 2020?”

If all the voter rolls were cleaned up and only eligible citizens voted, the Democrats would never win another election.

Simple.....disallowing a valid candidate.....disqualifies all their vote on a national basis....problem solved....

If this happens, all CA conservatives should “move in” with a friend or family member in a relevant state where their vote would count. 2 can play this game.
