The Pentagon is intensifying its attacks on Russias power grid in the latest sign of a growing cyber war between the U.S. and the Kremlin.
The move is intended as a warning to Russia and would also allow the U.S. to retaliate quickly against Russian provocation.
The warning strike was authorized by U.S. Cyber Command, which was granted extended power to conduct cyber clandestine military activity in order to deter, safeguard or defend against attacks or malicious cyberactivities against the United States last year by President Trump and congress. That authorization followed concerns that the administration needed to respond more aggressively to Kremlin-ordered cyber attacks and hacking campaigns.

If the Russians knock out all or parts of our power grid, it would be very bad.
Talk about throwing rocks in a glass house.
Seems pretty stupid to admit this, which appears to be just a tiny step short of an Act of War.
What would we say if another country did this to us?
Why are we doing this? Why are we picking a fight with Russia? Why aren’t we helping them pick up the pieces of the ruins created by the Soviet empire. Why would we interfere if Russia and Germany want an oil pipeline? When the time comes and Russia attacks us, we will deserve it!
So much for that whole clandestine thang.
Why do our elites hate Russia so much? Is it because they build churches? Or because they prohibit adoptions by homosexual couples? Or censored the Elton Jon gay sex movie?
all of the above
this sounds insane to me
and very, very unwise
These are the same elites, who have sent America’s entire industrial base, to China?
I have wondered the same thing.
Many times...
It seems some are expecting this type of hacking exchanges.
Except the DNC email techies.
I didn’t vote for a war with Russia. The opposite in fact.
Only imbeciles with a death wish want war with Russia.
Practice makes perfect.
Because Trump appointed & retains war-seeking psychopaths to his national security/foreign policy posts.
I’m enjoying your misery.
I’ve read that the Russians put a stop to the Ivy-league financial strip mining of the country by folks like Bill Browder. That pretty much started the non-stop hate Russia propaganda. Not sure how true, but makes some sense, probably at least half true.

has to be fake news.
If you find vulnerabilities, you save their use until you need them otherwise you are merely making your potential adversary more secure.
This is tantamount to an act of war. There is no need to “prove” cyberwarfare capabilities.
When the NSA/CIA spied on journalists, they didn’t tell them. They still deny. When the NSA/CIA monitors your communications, do you think they announce it to you? Why not?
Same principles apply.
Crashing the electric grid will not endear us to the Russian people. They have had it hard enough. With their already-weak infrastructure due to mismanagement and corruption, the govt can use outages to blame us.
It seems that we should find common grounds to ensure both our safeties. Their renouncement of communism is good enough for me.
Let’s stop meddling and work towards mutual goals.
