He’s on the job — which, one would think, rules out some personal or medical issue in the Pence family.
Pence’s spokesman insists there’s no cause for alarm. And no, you can’t know what’s up. Sorry.

No, they’re “pumpjets”; more like a ducted fan on an aircraft. Instead of a standard screw, they have essentially a many-bladed turbine surrounded by a shroud. My understanding is that in addition to directly reducing noise, this configuration also prevents cavitation.

There IS something going on important. But it has little to do with Russia. This submarine story has been planted as a misdirection. Russia may even be in on the misdirection, as Putin and President Trump just had a meeting at the G20. Since the White House responded with, "you'll know in a couple of weeks," it seems like whatever is happening is completely under their control, which a submarine incident with Russia would not be. I don't know what it is about, but I would guess either North Korea, or the deep state.
They don't actually send Chaplains. Just whatever Military Officer is nearby. My brother was an officer that manned the notification desk at Randolph AFB, in charge of dispatching officers around the countryside.
My neighbor is a retired Command Sgt Major/SMSGT with 39 years. He pointed out to me that quite often the next of kin is family at the deceased's duty station and not Mother and Father in a remote home of record. In that case the commander does the notification and may bring others such as a Chaplain or Sgt Major/ First Shirt.

My sister was stationed in lower Michigan at a SAC base during the LBJ administration. Just about all the crews were in SE Asia at the time and all she got to do was take care of the drunken wives of those crewmen. She was a head nurse in the hospital there.
Funny. They asked her after basic where she wanted to be stationed. She told them Germany or Alaska. She ended up down in Lower Michigan. Boy, she is still miffed about that.
