I hope to hell the Donald is not stupid enough to put his political neck on the block, and American servicemen’s lives on the line to rescure British shipping. The Brits are always the first in line to call us warmongers and bullies—— so let them fight their own fights. The Brits I talk to online have been taught that they owe America no favors, that we did nothing to help them in WWII until they already had Germany whipped. Their attitude is that their wars are our wars, but our wars aren’t their wars, unless the likely casualty numbers are nominal, as they have been in Afghanistan and Iraq. Between WWI and WWII we lost 400K dead fighting Britain’s enemies in Europe. That we get maligned is a sign that they think of us as vassals - cannon fodder to be fed into the meat grinder on command.
