I wonder what the timeline was on this, pretty quick response Id say, they were arriving on the 31st our time or local?
The Ospreys arrived in the dark, so had to be (our time) between 10 am Tuesday and 2200.
The sarcasm is real....
Except that the exact location of mortar is immediately known if the embassy has the typical tracking radar unit. And once the launcher's coordinates are known it is just a command decision as to what to respond with.
When Obama was president the response would be a box of candy or a pallet of cash. In the case of President Trump the response might be a precision guided 500lb bomb.
Our enemies in the middle east have been generally unsuccessful against US attack helicopters. In most cases the insurgents killed by AH-64 helicopters never even know they have been targeted until the first 30mm round explodes in their midst.
Bring in an AC C130. No better way to break up a crowd of militants.
I may need to get used to streaming for good radio.
It’s taking a while to get my mind wrapped around doing things in a new way.
KSFO is still here.
It’s a bigger hassle to listen to it now, since most terrestrial radios refuse to put a physical tuneron. You have to fiddle with Bluetooth.
Try using iHeart Radio. You can easily search for both Rush & Mark. And...it's crystal clear!
I’ll just have to get used to these Apps.
They are not going away.
Just checked BBC
As of 18 minutes ago, BBC STILL has no mention of the Ospreys bringing in the 100 Marines.
Gosh, they hate America as much as they hate their own people. Sick. Always talking down to us. So predictable.
Moronic. You thinkm
A: That they have no air assets involved.
B: that a full company of Marineinfantry in a defensive position is a sitting duck for the Iraqi army.
Both are laughable.
LOL, go back to gaming.
“When GWB left office Iraq was relatively secure,”
Laughable
Bring in an AC C130. No better way to break up a crowd of militants.
I like the way you think!
Why even have an Embassy?
The MV-22 Osprey has twice the range and twice the speed of the CH-46E it replaced. And 33% more payload.
From just outside Kuwait City to Baghdad was a one hour flight from take off.
And they flew home without refueling.
Amazing aircraft.

” slow motion civil war, and unless the Iraqi government gets their stuff together, they are going to fall”
It’s certain.
There’s no saving them. Especially since they don’t want to be saved.
And we don’t want to do it either.
Am I alone in thinking that these people can only be ruled by a tyrant?
“Baloney. Toppling Saddam Hussein and promoting democracy in Iraq inevitably led to a Shiite government that would have much closer ties to Iran than to the U.S.”
Absolutely true. An enormous strategic error.
We should have spent all those men and resources on toppling the Mullahs instead. And let Saddam continue to suppress the Jihadis.
But it’s something we cannot undo.
And that's what this current issue is all about.
Friday Hezbollah rocketed several of our bases and killed an American contractor.
Sunday, Trump had several Hezbollah camps in Iraq and Syria bombed by F-15 Strike Eagles causing MAJOR damage, including killing an Iranian vice commander and blowing up a huge ammo dump.
Monday the Iraqi PM pitched a fit, claiming the USA had no right to do this, that is, defend itself (or at least so strongly).
Tuesday the protesters and storming of the Embassy. Burnt down the Embassy reception center, but did NOT breach the interior defenses..
Wednesday, Marines arrive in force; protesters break camp and leave.
Thursday?
“Am I alone in thinking that these people can only be ruled by a tyrant?”
Tyrants only need apply.
It’s a population of millions with average IQ of about 86 and a literacy rate of about 5%.
And all zealots.
