Significant move for Trump. It sends a strong message that the embassy will be defended. My guess is the “protesters” with ties to Iran backed militias will probable bail, as they don’t want to be captured, interrogated and imprisoned.

That said, Iraq is going through a slow motion civil war, and unless the Iraqi government gets their stuff together, they are going to fall. Iran proxies have already taken over large parts of the government and military. I’m not even sure Iraq can be saved at this point. Thanks GWB.

Informative post. Since I don’t have easy access to talk radio anymore in the Bay Area, I don’t know where to go for such info. I’d like to know what’s going on in Iran after all these weeks of protest. Any suggestions on websites?
I don’t have a TV anymore.

Is Iraq really going through a civil war, or is it simply another Shi’ite-dominated dump in the region?

Don't blame W. It was Zero-bama who pulled out all of our troops from a reasonably pacified Iraq. We lost our influence then...and Zero-bama ignored the brewing ISIS Crisis. Then, moronically/ ironically, Obama got us back into Iraq.

And, let's also not forget Valerie "Rasputin" Jarrett and the massive butt-kissing by Obama's team towards Iran.

That’s the best analysis of this whole situation that can be written.

And boy you nailed it with that Saudi loving fake patriot, GW.

Before GWB, there was no US embassy in Iraq, and the regime itself was openly hostile. Now you have a weak regime that could fall, but did make a hopeful beginning thanks to GWB, and despite Odumbo, there still is a regime, even after ISIS has risen and fallen. The trajectory of what GWB started is now out of his hands, so it’s time to stop “thanking” him and play the hand that fate has dealt. The alternative is staving off and reacting to crises like this ad infinitum. Trump has to get proactive.

When GWB left office Iraq was relatively secure, When it was Obama’s turn, he failed to negotiate a status of forces agreement, as memory serves, and so instituted chaos which Iran stepped into to bring order after Obama pulled the rest of the US forces out. Thanks Obama.

” slow motion civil war, and unless the Iraqi government gets their stuff together, they are going to fall”

It’s certain.

There’s no saving them. Especially since they don’t want to be saved.

And we don’t want to do it either.
