All he asked for was a roll call vote not a voice vote.
That House Members be required to record their vote on record.

Sometimes bill sound good but they’re stuffed full of pork by the leadership and that’s why Massie votes against them.

He would have voted against the relief bill the other day if he had a chance. He is consistent .

Exactly. If you feel strongly and have valid points you make your objections, lobby other members for their support but if you are not able to generate a change for the better you vote for the best that can be achieved at the time if there is a pressing need. By taking this approach you are an asset.

40 years of compromise has got us where ?

You can’t compromise with Dems. They want unlimited spending.

Vote it down. That’s what Massie does.

The bill that was passed was the result of that fight by the Republicans. POTUS said he knew there was waste but the Country needed relief and this was the best they could get. Pelosi would have been glad to let the Country continue to panic.
Lou Gohmert sqaid that most of the waste had clearly defined sunset provisions which would limit the waste and on that basis he was voting for the bill.

Are you suggesting that Ronald Reagan was a bad President because he “compromised?”

President Trump was putting a good face on a bill that he may not have wanted to sign on principle. But politics is what it is — and there was no way in hell he is going to veto a bill that passes in the Senate by a 96-0 vote and the House by a 434-1 (or whatever it might have been) margin.

That’s Congress critters.
I am waiting to see how it turns out. I am not yet convinced that not having a bill would have worked out even as well. I think that the lack of action by Obama & past Presidents left the Country unprepared for this disaster and that is another 6k/person those people have taken from the economy.

IMO POTUS is looking after my grandkids fine by keeping the economy afloat & saving many small businesses & individuals. If he is able to get the economy back with anything like his prior success we will work our way out of this in a relatively short time.

There was nothing stopping him from voting against the relief bill. His stated point in his objection was that Congress should do it’s job and vote on the floor not that he was voting against the bill.

For too long Republicans have compromised with Democrats and the size of the Federal government has only got bigger as have taxes.

Vote it down: That’s what Massie does.

I think that part of the issue was that Nan had been playing games for 2 weeks. The Republicans & POTUS just wanted to get her to the alter with relief for Americans before she had another great idea of brinkmanship to get more for her interest groups/backers.
Massie obstructing the quick vote and giving Nan another chance to start a gambit was just too much for the people who had been negotiating and taking the heat for refusing to compromise on Nan’s bill for weeks.

I’m sure if OBAMA proposed a 2 trillion bill stuffed full of pork you would be against it .

Massie is against the spending no matter who is in office. Look up his record.

Most politicians are liars.

Republicans aren’t the ones who have been doing the compromising. It’s their CONSTITUENTS who often insist on it.

That’s how we ended up with the bizarre scenario where Democrats (who have no limits to their spending binges) imposed Medicare funding cuts in ObamaCare in 2009 ... only to have the Republicans win back control of the House in 2010 on a campaign promise to RESTORE those Medicare cuts.

That wasn’t a “compromise” by any stretch. It was a massive GOP spending package.

I admire your passion but to hold true to your point of view you are sacrificing objectivity.
It sounds noble to stand true to your principles in all things. In actuality when you represent other people you are required to factor their welfare into account. If you have sufficient leverage you can dictate terms. When you don’t you compromise & find ways to get more leverage. You educate and state objections as you go.
If President Trump had not accepted an inflated budget to get the military package he wanted we would still have a military with no ammunition. That would be even more dangerous at this time in history. Much good has been done by accepting the imperfect.
We will never live in a perfect Country but perhaps the acceptance of imperfection is a measure of our strength.

My goodness, you have a way of making compromise of principles sound so reasonable.

No compromise.

I’m sick of it.

Trump isn’t perfect. He has advisers who work against him. The Treasury secretary is a Democrat for a start .
