Bad News Wrapped in Protein: Inside the Coronavirus Genome (Complete sequence of the genome and the proteins it codes for)

A virus is “simply a piece of bad news wrapped up in protein,” the biologists Jean and Peter Medawar wrote in 1977.

In January, scientists deciphered a piece of very bad news: the genome of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. The sample came from a 41-year-old man who worked at the seafood market in Wuhan where the first cluster of cases appeared.

Researchers are now racing to make sense of this viral recipe, which could inspire drugs, vaccines and other tools to fight the ongoing pandemic.

A String of RNA

Viruses must hijack living cells to replicate and spread. When the coronavirus finds a suitable cell, it injects a strand of RNA that contains the entire coronavirus genome.

The genome of the new coronavirus is less than 30,000 “letters” long. (The human genome is over 3 billion.) Scientists have identified genes for as many as 29 proteins, which carry out a range of jobs from making copies of the coronavirus to suppressing the body’s immune responses.

The first sequence of RNA letters reads:

I saw this article earlier today and skimmed through it.

It could be weaponized, but all biology is pretty amazing with all of the various things that have to happen at the right time, the proper fits, etc.

The very specific things that this virus has to do is probably very similar to the good results we see (say when a cut heals?)

I am a believer in Creation, and that sin reached all of nature, even goes down to the molecular level (such as this virus). OR - it was the sinful nature of a bunch of scientists in Wuhan.

Sure makes one wonder when they say “Oh - this terrible virus sprung up from a wet market!!”

But now - the wet markets are back up and running again.

“Her sister passed last month, and the mom is going to go off the deep end...”

Oh my - I can’t even imagine. Prayers for her.

Please stay safe, and keep up the hard work - I’ve been doing the same to keep weight down.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/summary.html

“COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common in people and many different species of animals, including camels, cattle, cats, and bats. Rarely, animal coronaviruses can infect people and then spread between people such as with MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, and now with this new virus (named SARS-CoV-2).

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is a betacoronavirus, like MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV. All three of these viruses have their origins in bats. The sequences from U.S. patients are similar to the one that China initially posted, suggesting a likely single, recent emergence of this virus from an animal reservoir.

Move more and eat less was a horrible punishment for people who were fed the entire food pyramid scheme. Just cut the carbs to less than 20 grams a day and restrict your eating to an 8 hour window. It just works. Please trust me.

I used to think it was weaponized. Then realized that it hits men more then women.

Its likely from a gene therapy research virus that escaped a lab. Designed to increase Luteinizing hormone. Thus why it hits men harder especially those with already high blood pressure, hypertension, and metabolic issues

Thanks. We were eating very few carbs, but there’s a meat shortage in the supermarkets here. Will try to do it again as soon as possible. In the meantime, about an hour of exercise in a day decreases the craving for food, too.

SARS-CoV-2 was spliced in the lab. Anyone telling you different is giving you a line of BS.

If it was weaponized or designed for Gene therapy research is debatable.

On cases by sex, have a look at this (”biological sex data”). I wonder if some decision makers might be concerned about allowing public panic.

Ah. Here’s why more men have been dying in some areas (but not all). Men are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.

I believe the SARS-CoV-2 infected cells feed on carbohydrates. Which is why diabetics obese (men for a different reason) are most effected.
Doctors are recommending vitamin B1 which brakes down carbohydrates to help prevent/fight this. Kefir is rich in Vitamin B12, B1, and Vitamin K

Bedbugs also supposedly evolved by feeding on bats. Both being cave-dwelling mammals, bats and humans seem to be vulnerable to some of the same parasites.

Women have better immune systems. The Spanish Flu killed by people by causing their immune system to overreact, so it actually killed healthy adult people more than older and younger ones. This virus is behaving more like you’d expect to, being less deadly to people with better immune systems.

Interesting point. I've been thinking the virus was designed for Gene therapy designed to increase Luteinizing hormone. Which escaped

"I've been thinking the virus was designed for Gene therapy designed to increase Luteinizing hormone."

Why would they want to increase it? To affect fertility in some way, or to treat abnormalities?

in males this will help produce testosterone. Females it triggers a release of eggs from the ovaries .

Yes 45% of Americans 45 & older are obese. And the virus has claimed many young & healthy victims as well.
