I agree we can effect the outcome, but not control it.
We agree more than not.
uh oh
Yeah, I would say the social distancing and stay at home policies have made a big difference, tho others might disagree. The only thing that will make the real difference in control would be a vaccine, that would make everything else moot points/questions.
Their socialist economy was already wrecked and will be wrecked forever until they stop living under socialism.

They HAVE stopped living under socialism. But, unfortunately, they didnt accompany that needed reformation with a needed ditching of the multiculturalism is wonderful attitude.
American papers WANT that curve!
Sweden's mass gathering restriction was implemented March 11. No other government-mandated social distancing implemented before or since. Oddly enough, Sweden's peak medical resources use and deaths are projected for May 19. Source: IHME COVID-19 Projections-Sweden
Sweden isn’t considering them, they’ve been USING them for nursing homes. Did you not read the article?
Interesting. By May 19th things should have calmed down a great deal here in the US, Sweden and other places are on a diff timeline.
A valid point that is seemly lost in the discussion; it has never been about avoiding the virus altogether, only buying time to prepare the healthcare system and finding possible treatments.
The new york survey suggests 20% of city demwellers might have had it, and 15% of the state
Absolutely.
More like Junior High.
And to reduce the number of available hosts for the virus to infect. That can be achieved either by reducing the number of contacts an infected person has or immunizing the population. Since there is no vaccine immunity must come through natural means. Which usually is getting a virus and recovering from it. Isolating those who are high risk makes sense. I think that isolating those who are not high risk will backfire.
The virus will probably not just go away. If anything it may become a seasonal virus. If healthy people do not get a chance to build up natural immunity now when the virus returns that lack of immunity will put them at higher risk for major complications including death. It also means there is a greater chance of children contacting the virus and becoming very ill from it. Why? Because healthy adults and children will be the hosts available for the virus to infect.
Yep - lots here too....the irony is that most of the “lockdowns” were verbal only and had zero enforcement...but they kept folks aware that getting “all close and comfy” with each other might cause problems...
I've been watching how 'elites' are reacting... they're all staying in their homes - ordering out restaurant meals...

I read an article last weekend, I will have to look and see if I can find it again. I will link if I do!
Thank you.
From what we’ve read it’s mostly elderly Swedish natives that have done the dying.
Sweden is doing fine. They expect the virus to come, kill a few people, about 600 per million. And go away like a bad flu season. You can’t stop the flu. You can’t stop Corona virus. But you can save your economy. All Sweden is doing is to hide their most vulnerable. And stop very large gatherings. There is zero proof that further lock down measures work at all.
