How do we know whether there has been false attribution? Trends in the overall death rate can help.
Maybe some Freeper with statistics training and access to the figures can step forward to help us.

If there was a lottery with 60% chance of winning a million dollars would you buy a ticket for a dollar?
*******
The 60% mask effectiveness figure is something that was made-up to justify forcing people to breathe stale air,
which is not good for anyone.

And, yes, as of as I am, I would rather get the virus than have to breathe stale air and be deprived personal contact as the new normal. There are still lots of enlightened old people who want to allow young folks to get on with their lives rather than close everything down just to keep them disease free.

I am not to sure about that. I thought deaths were declining too but I noticed an uptick over the last few days. Over 800 yesterday. Having said that, I am not a person who thinks we should stay closed down forever.

The number is feasible, but only if daily death rates rise above present rates, but over the last month they have been decreasing.

The masks aren't useless if you want to avoid getting or spreading the virus. That's obvious form the evidence. Wearing or not wearing is more complicated than that.

Unless you plan on wearing a mask for the rest of your life, you’re simply delaying the inevitable. The virus will not disappear. It will attenuate when healthy individuals’ natural immunity diminishes the number of available hosts.

As much as you’d like to think mortal beings are in control, they are not. There is a God, and no one on earth is Him.

I agree it is just a delay. I wear a mask at work (required) and wear one at the store since I am used to it. But personally I don't care whatsoever if I get it or not (easy to say at a healthy 57). I also believe we have seen the low hanging fruit get harvested already especially in the hot spots.

There's some stale air. But you learn to breathe a little more deeply to compensate. Ironically deeper breathing is also a risk factor if you happen to breathe virus particles. But the other irony is that deeper breathing is generally a healthy practice.

So the "stale air" argument is stale.

"There are still lots of enlightened old people who want to allow young folks to get on with their lives rather than close everything down just to keep them disease free."

There are a lot of people (enlightened) who believe the mask works base on real science research, not blogs or Demigods stating false facts base on people’s fears (being control by wearing a mask, virus is fake).

Fact: A lot of Republican people who choice to wear a mask do not want everything close, because we all still need to make money in order to eat. They are not running around declaring the world is going to end. We had outbreaks of other viruses before, the virus either mutilated away quickly or we learn to live with it. We need to learn to live with this virus, it is real and no not going away soon.

If is a free country, you have a Free Choice:

If you are not high-risk person you can choose not to wear a mask in a high outbreak area and a catch the virus and still live. The odds are in your favor.

If you are a high-risk person you can choose not to wear a mask wear a mask in a high outbreak area and catch the virus get real sick running up doctors’ bills or die. It is your choice just do not expect me to pay your doctors bill.

I really do not care what your choice or care about why your choice not to wear a mask is, that is why we have the theory of natural selection. I choice to wear a mask when in public indoor areas where I know the virus could be. Do not be a hater when you see a person wearing a mask, they might have a reason to wear a mask and they have the right to choose to wear a mask (it is America).

"Sure don’t hear much about “herd immunity” anymore..."

It's important. The tricky part is to receive and spread lighter viral loads, until the virus mutates towards weakness. Fewer micro-droplets containing the virus are better than more micro-droplets.

Hospitalizations and deaths are down relative to increases in cases, and several vaccines have worked well in volunteers so far. The situation is looking better. We need to work smart for productivity, and increase economic activity.

Someone in my family was cleared by a doctor today after a minor throat infection, probably from a virus on clothing during a drive home in an air conditioned car after a work shift in a crowded place. We're good to go. :)

Crazy Joe Biden says 120 million Americans have already died from Covid.

Don’t you believe him?

LOL! Most of the problems are in and around big, Democrat cities. If his comment about deaths was true, business activity in those areas would completely stop. Democrats wouldn’t have any money for political influence. Elections would all be landslides in our favor!

Lock down the big cities! ;D

The coronavirus “crisis” is a perfect example of bad policies based on bad computer models.

They never should have used the London Imperial model. That’s the one that predicted two million US deaths. The problem is that this group has a HISTORY of bad predictions.

One mistake was predicted up to 150 million dead from bird flu.

Bird flu pandemic ‘could kill 150m’
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2005/sep/30/birdflu.jamessturcke

The other was predicting 50,000 dead from mad cow disease while saying, “Be afraid of the sheep, too”.

Yes, and the big media companies fomented hysteria with their sensationalism. I’m not with any of the political factions or special interests on the matter and refuse politicization of it. Constitutional rights like the Second, Fourth and Fifth Amendments (and more) are far more important. So is our economy, including matters of absenteeism, productivity, liability and manufacturing production on U.S. soil as opposed to the so-called service industry and mythical economy solely based on services.
