PITTSFIELD (WGME) -- Senator Susan Collins says she will vote against Judge Amy Coney-Barrett being elected to the Supreme Court.
Sen. Collins releases statement on Supreme Court Vacancy "It's not a comment on her, Collins said. It is a comment on the process of rushing through a nomination in such a short time before a presidential election."
Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski also said she will be a no vote for the same reason.
To block the confirmation, two more senators would have to vote against Coney-Barrett, but Republicans have said they have the votes.
Because she’s a placeholder that keeps Schumer from being the majority leader...and occasionally she has been the difference maker in getting key legislation passed - like tax reform and confirming Kavanaugh. This time her vote probably isn’t needed so she can freely play her “independent” card to Maine’s voters.
Can’t we primary these people out of office?
I just canceled my donation to help her out.
I don’t post sarcasm on reality.
Of course given previous encounters with you, I know that reality rarely ever applies in your analysis of any situation.
So did I.
We have few primaries and if we did I'd choose the more conservative Republican.
I read today that John James is now ahead in the polls.
Sadly, no surprise at all....
Collins and Murkowski believe that ACB would rule against Roe and oppose her for that reason.
And the Senate!
What we need to do is spend more effort recruiting.
Collins and Murkowski would be thrilled to rush through an abortion advocate.
They're probably the old school Rockefeller type.
Just saw the Fox documentary on the Kavanuagh debacle. Her floor speech was a profile in courage and might cost her this election. This position, not so courageous
Have a glass of wine and stop paying attention to the polls.
:: It is to the Senate confirming her. ::
But, congress isn’t doing its real job right now, anyway.
Oversight, oversight.
Where are the legislative bills?
Where are the budget negotiations?
At least “Advice and Consent” is actually IN their Constitutional job description.
Unlike, the witch-hunts and kangaroo courts they have now.
Oh, she’s a Catholic? Like Biden? Like Pelosi?
Amy Coney Barrett opposes murdering innocent little preborn babies between conception and birth.
Arizona?
Collins knows she is toast and this vote is to satisfy whatever outfit she ends up with after her dismissal from office.
