San Franciscos academically selective Lowell High School will admit students using a random lottery for next years freshman class, a decision made unanimously by the school board Tuesday after a divisive community debate.

Parents of students in one of the Sarasota, fl. high schools completely wired the school and provided computers in the classrooms. The school board was enraged. They wanted to take back the allocated budget for that school to compensate. I don’t recall how it worked out as I moved away.
The answer, though, is to create a private education system. Otherwise, SJ people will attempt to level the playing field by creating a lowest common denominator for all schools.
Just like Thomas Jefferson in Virginia, Stuyvesant and Brooklyn Tech in New York...
Just like the Ivies and SAT scores.
It’s all about race.
If not everyone gets to the finish line at the same time, the race needs to be rigged and handicapped.
So - who do YOU want as your brain surgeon?
Private education systems can only flourish if the parents aren’t saddled with public school “tuition” (taxes) simultaneously. The private education system in NJ is collapsing because few parents can spend thousands on their public schools and still afford the private schools.
In 4 years it will no longer be academically selective.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the first public school in New York City did not open until the 1840s, or more than a half century after George Washington was first inaugurated.
Just like Maos Cultural Revolution.
Make a pig farmer a brain surgeon!
The Left is a plague of locusts.
That is exactly what happened with NYC’s “elite” schools; when the decision was made to make them “diverse” without merit involved, it sent a signal to the mainly Asian parents of students there that they had to leave NYC. Those schools existed to provide real educations to serious students in a safe environment, and it was all wiped out with that decision. Because many of those parents can’t afford private schools (they aren’t wealthy parents - just good parents) they really have no choice but to leave NYC. This removes another bloc of the last “makers” living there; northeastern NJ across the Hudson River from NYC is filling up with them. A couple of years ago the county just north of me added Korean to all official county business (ballots and such).
Attendance diplomas are next.
Sure; they are already SOP in regular public schools nationwide. We’ve created a dual system for diplomas/degrees; the earned ones in the hands of non-preferred groups, and suspect ones in the hands of preferred “victims”.
NYC “exam schools” (Bronx Science, Stuyvesant, a few more) have NOT been changed in admission policies. DiBlasio wants to do so, but so far has not been able to. There is a state law adopted back in the last attack on those schools that stands in the way.
Meritocracy under attack per usual.
The parents probably largely voted for the tyrants doing this.
Vote differently, San Francisco Asians.
> Attendance diplomas are next.
Requiring attendance would be raciss!
That’s encouraging; thank you for the update!
