Rep. Kinzinger: ‘The Base Is Starting to Turn’ on Trump
Breitbart ^ | 30 December 2020 | Pam Key

Posted on 12/31/2020 5:32:20 AM PST by Magnatron

Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said Wednesday on CNN’s “New Day” that President Donald Trump’s base was starting to turn on him.

Kinzinger said, “I think we have to step back and understand, you know, people that feel very disaffected, Donald Trump spoke to them, but here is the problem is up until the election, you know, it’s an election, it’s just a competition of ideas, but after an election, it has turned into an undermining of the democracy. That’s the differentiation between, you know, people that say, ‘Well, Adam, you know, was supportive of the president in the past.’ The difference here is what it’s doing to undermine our democracy and the fact, then, that people that work hard for their money, hard-working taxpayers are giving their money to this, because they are convinced because the president is telling them this that they can win, and they can’t. I mean, the scam in Congress with January 6th all these members of Congress that are, you know, posting crazy things so they can get a ton of followers and retweets and raise money, I think we have to calling it out finally because if we don’t people are just going to believe it.”

Anchor Alisyn Camerota said, “From where you sit are you seeing Republicans distance themselves now from President Trump? I mean, for instance, voting to override the veto, or are you seeing them still cater to his demands, such as Mitch McConnell larding up this bill with President Trump’s demands? Which is it?”

Kinzinger said, “I think they’re privately distancing more. We’ve talked about this a lot, I wish more would speak out, but I think they’re starting to. I tell you, the base is starting to turn.”

Rep. Kinzinger: ‘The Base Is Starting to Turn’ on Trump

No it isn't. No president probably since FDR has had a more loyal base than Trump. They are not going to leave him no matter what happens on January 20th and are not going to forget who supported the President and who abandoned him.

No, Kinsinger the Trump base is now fully aware of what a backstabbing POS you are, and hopefully in two years your constituents will dump you.

That's gotten us what exactly

Control of most state legislatures, winning every single “tossup” house seat etc.
Its state legislatures that control election laws and redistricting.
What did the Dems win exactly?
Don't tell me they won the presidency cause Trump won.

But I really think they are clueless about the backlash that is going to happen to the Republican Party for going down this path...

Maybe they think we on the right have no other alternative than the Republicans, but we always have choices which they don’t seem to realize...

I don’t. Sasse just got 67% of the vote. Kinzinger will likely get a similar result when he runs again.

I am afraid we are vastly over estimating the hardcore MAGA wing of the GOP. In reality it is 1/3 or 1/4 of GOP voters. Then you have the mushy middle 50% that will not radicalize in support of the MAGA agenda and the 25 or so percent Never Trump/country club wing.

Normalcy bias reigns. In particular amongst pop culture addled suburban women. The majority of GOP voters may be mad but are they not in burn it all down mode. And when they get there it will be too late. Every day patriot Trump voters die and are replaced by socialist loving third world dirt farmers. Dems won’t even have to cheat very shortly.

It’s you who is dreaming.
The GOP, RNC etc are currently controlled by Trump loyalists.

I admire your enthusiasm but this is just plain wrong. Michigan was stolen right under the noses of Michigan native Ronna Romney and the RNC.

Ripe for a stealth attack.

If they don’t stand with Trump, they’re dead to me. They’ll effectively make voting moot, so why should we ever vote for any of them again?

I now live in Kinzinger’s district. He’s 1000% wrong. The base isn’t turning on President Trump, the base here is talking about unseating Kinzinger.

Just think about what you said, 1/3 to 1/4 of the GOP voters are hardcore MAGA....

If that’s true and for the sake of discussion, I will agree with you...

Look at all the political contests around the country....how many are decided by a couple of percentage points either way....now take away a large portion of that 1/3 or 1/4 of the Republican Voters and what is the result....

Especially on a statewide basis....on congressional districts the effect is less....

A practical example, the State of Pennsylvania, Toomey is leaving the Senate and Republicans have ZERO chance of holding that seat without the MAGA core voter....

Florida is another example, Rubio is up for reelection in 2022, Trump blew out Biden in Florida but typically the elections in Florida a 1-2 point margins if that....take away 1/3 to 1/4 of the Republican Support and Rubio is toast....

All I’m saying is, no political party can afford to alienate 1/3 to 1/4 of it’s supporters and survive long term...

I think they’re privately distancing more.

What is this guy a mind reader?

More likely a deep, deep Democrat plant posing as GOP.

All those GOP state legislatures are doing nothing to stop the steal. The proof is in the pudding. Sorry.
