Former President Donald Trump is expected to meet on Thursday with Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, sources confirm to The Post.
McCarthy (R-Calif.) was a close Trump ally during his term, but criticized Trump’s actions on Jan. 6 when a crowd stormed the Capitol to disrupt certification of President Biden’s victory.
The meeting in Florida is expected to be a first step toward conservative unity as the Senate takes up Trump’s impeachment trial next month.
Only five of 50 Republican senators voted to allow the trial on Tuesday, strongly suggesting Democrats won’t find the 17 Republican votes needed to convict Trump and then ban him from holding office.
McCarthy argued against impeaching Trump, but also floated a censure.
“The president bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters. He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding,” McCarthy said Jan. 13.
Trump is expected to remain a powerful figure in the Republican Party and could seek a non-consecutive second term as president in 2024.

To set a jovial mood, Kevin plans to first stop at the local McDonald’s and pick up a few Cokes Fries & Filet of Fish sandwiches, knowing Mr. Trump likes these specific snacks. They will start off talking about something like Golf.

What could these two possibly discuss? The GOPee colluded with the Marxocrats, including McCarthy, to roll over and let the fraud stand. During Trump’s term the GOPee did everything they could to stymie any positive initiative Trump tried to accomplish. The illegal alien invasion continued apace, the wall remains unbuilt. The much ballyhooed approvals of “conservative” judges didn’t amount to squat when the electoral crisis confronted the USSC judges as every one of Trump’s picks refused to lift a finger to stop the steal. The majority GOPee senate voted overwhelmingly against electoral integrity at the critical moment. Even the majority GOPee stste legislatures didn’t do a damn thing when they could have stopped the steal. It takes a special kind of insanity to adwant to continue to affiliate with the GOPee any longer. Trump told us vote for all sorts of GOPee schmucks, qyuislings, and crooks fir the sake of party unity when he was president. I simply will not vote for anr GOPee puke ever again, even if Trump says “Pretty please, with sugar on top.”
