LUBBOCK, Texas — For some COVID-19 patients, getting over their infection is just the beginning of the recovery. Over the last year, COVID “long haulers” have continued experiencing a variety of symptoms months after the virus clears. These include anything from skin problems, to shortness of breath, to losing the sense of taste or smell. Now, researchers say they may know why this is happening. A new study finds coronavirus actually causes long-term changes to an infected patient’s genes.
Specifically, scientists reveal the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing COVID-19, creates long-lasting changes to human gene expression. These tiny spikes cover the surface of coronavirus cells. They allow the virus to bind to certain receptors on human cells and hijack their functions — leading to COVID infection. Once the spike cuts into a patient’s cells, the virus releases its own genetic material into the cell so it can replicate.
“We found that exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein alone was enough to change baseline gene expression in airway cells,” says Nicholas Evans, a master’s student at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, in a media release. “This suggests that symptoms seen in patients may initially result from the spike protein interacting with the cells directly.”

8% of human DNA is from viruses, so viruses have been altering our DNA for a long, long time. Of course that doesn't mean it wasn't made in a lab. Like everyone else here, I don't know. But I suspect it was.

Changes in gene expression can be induced by external factors like environment (diet, smoking), internal signals such as stress (hypoxia, nutrient deprivation), inflammation and tissue repair, and even genetic material such as non-coding RNAs.
There are problems with all vaccines. I don’t know the latest figures on the JnJ vaccine but when it was paused there were 2 known blood clot cases, with one death, out of millions of doses administered. Seems really rare if those numbers hold. There may be more, and there may be some that are undetected or not severe. And there were problems at a couple of sites that were forced to close early but I am unsure if they were all related to JnJ. One in Colorado if I recall with too many obvious and instant after effects during the observation period immediately after injection but that could have been related to any number of factors e.g. spring time hay fever etc.
So far with those numbers it seems too rare to even draw a causal relationship (even if it is directly causal, the n is too small to prove with reasonable confidence).

Much of human DNA as well as the DNA of every other living thing, is result of ancient viral infections.
I would have to say this whole train of thought is ridiculous. If a virus can cause a planned mutation in human genes then why not mutate the part of the gene responsible for aging? Spike proteins provide a means for a virus to penetrate a cell’s outer membrane and to inject its own genetic material into the cell. That is how pretty much all viruses reproduce. All viruses. They use the genetic material of cells to reproduce their own genetic material. Cells usually die from this.
Not all cells get infected. If they did host death would be swift. This is not a good strategy for viruses. So they become less lethal over time. If they become a lot less lethal we might find cells surviving longer, long enough to produce lasting symptoms. That would very much resemble genetic material being modified but viruses exist by modifying genetic material.
Don’t get carried away by all the fear. We are being told to believe the science by people who have absolutely no understanding of science. I venture to say that many people who post on Free Republic do not know the first thing about science. Either that or they are just trolls. All the crap about cytokine storms last year which made people afraid and made them actually say cytokine storms which they are so stupid because they don’t even know what a cytokine is. I think you should have at least some idea what a cytokine is before being afraid of a cytokine storm and trying to make people wear masks to avoid cytokine storms.
Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people. Nearly 50% of people are of below average intelligence. If you are in the upper half of all people you should be careful not to let the lower half of people have undue influence over your thinking.

I’d like to see scientists figure out how to use a modified virus to fix genetic disabilities.
Think of a messengerRNA (mRNA) vaccine as a fake blueprint from the architect (the cell’s native DNA). The bogus blueprint instructs the cell’s contractors (ribosomes) to build the spike protein structure. A neighborhood copper (a lymphocyte) smells something fishy about the design (the foreign antigen) and calls over a few armed (with antibodies) buds to clean up the block (the host tissue).

A squad of more coppers (lymphocytes) arrive to level buildings (the host tissue) decorated with the spike protein.

The anaphylactic reactions are to the polyethylene glycol in the vaccine, or PEG, not the mRNA or the proteins the cells produce.
When I was working in the hospital in 2020 and the covid stuff just happened I spoke with an ICU nurse who told me they were dying from blood clots. Faster than a code could be called.
They never reported that. We all knew it. But it was not from a vaccine.
I was put on Hydrocodone for a short time. I was so freaked out about the warnings of addiction, etc that I only took two.
I honestly dont see what the big deal is about wanting to take that drug. It didnt do all that much for me. I guess you have to have extreme pain to get addicted. I may change my mind after I have major surgery.

Tell me why the Covid-19 virus wasn’t a Chinese biological weapon. Then China is building what?

Interesting. Does the cytoskine storm cause blood clots, or somewhat correlated to blood clots since they seem to create massive inflammation?
I had some reservations about getting vaccinated, but this disease is no mere flu, and it has been killing people I know personally. It’s risky to get the vaccine, and it’s risky not to get it. I simply made my decision based on what I perceived to be the best odds.
Johnson and Johnson’s vaccine still involves mRNA. It is a DNA vaccine that enters the cell’s nucleus - the DNA enters and becomes part of the nucleus. It encodes the same mRNA which then exits the nucleus and enters the cell cytoplasm with the instructions to produce the same COVID protein.
