Five states broke records for the average number of daily new Covid cases over the weekend as the delta variant strains hospital systems across the U.S. and forces many states to reinstate public health restrictions.
The states with higher vaccination rates are seeing fewer Covid patients take up hospital beds.
Florida, Louisiana, Hawaii, Oregon and Mississippi all reached new peaks in their seven-day average of new cases per day as of Sunday, according to a CNBC analysis of data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. On a per capita basis, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida are suffering from the three worst outbreaks in the country.

The article says hospitalizations are also up in those 5 states. People usually do not go to hospital unless they are really sick.

No, they didn’t. FL reported 539 COVID-19 deaths today. But wait, worldometer says ZERO! Yep, that is also correct. None of the deaths reported today actually died today. So those 539 deaths were added to worlometer’s previous days, not today. Check back in 2 weeks and today’s “zero” will reflect the deaths that occurred today.
The downward trend on worldometer is due to a change in how they report deaths. There is a 1-2 week delay between death and the state reporting that death. Then, when FL reports deaths, they are retroactively dated, and reflected on the date the death actually occurred. The result is a constantly shifting downward trend for the last 10-12 days.
Some accuse FL of hiding the death rate, but it’s probably a more accurate way of reporting, while sacrificing expediency. The trend line is a result of accurately reflecting the date of death and and the cause of death, while accepting the required bureaucratic delay.

Pfizer’s animal data clearly presaged the following risks and dangers:

There is a real possibility that cationic lipids will accumulate in the ovaries. The implied grave risk to female fertility demands the most urgent attention of the public and of the health authorities.

Just returned from the local ER in North Florida. 16 ER beds, 4 besides me occupied. I asked about the covid plague and was told it apparently peaked here as our work has been about normal. I was not there for covid.
Do you seriously believe majority of Americans are disciplined enough to use proven prophylactic’s regularly to prevent covid infection? Sorry I just do not see it happening. The knowledge is all out there, but very few are practicing it.

Most people don’t need to do anything with 99%+ survivability rate. Those with vulnerabilities can choose whether or not to use them prophylactically. But making them readily available to those who become ill would dramatically decrease the hospitalization/death rate.
