Yep. I used to say that I feel like I’m living in “Dr. Zhivago”, but without the love triangle.
And here we are.
I have a huge amount of respect for people who run their own business. Huge. They work their asses off, and their paycheck is dependent on their own effort...and not guaranteed.
I recognize the inherent value in real human contact, and a zoom meeting doesn’t replace it. I do a lot of meetings these days, and in some of them (even large ones) I am the only person with a camera on.
You know a lot of people simply are not paying attention in the least. It is my effort to show people I am paying attention. Plus, I am one of those people whose face is completely transparent, so the people I work with use me for that function to convey emotion to vendors...:) They don’t say it aloud of course, but from their comments, it is pretty clear...:)
Eh. I would retire now, but...I just don’t think I am ready yet. I like hearing from people like you who are, and live vicariously through you!
I had to laugh...given what they have been doing for a while now with things like Section 8 housing, and trying to make it impossible for people to live in the suburbs, I don’t doubt I will come home one day, open the door, and be faced by a stern looking, obese illegal immigrant who tells me my quarters are now at the end of the hall in that one room!
Heh, glad you liked it! Makes me laugh every time!

That’s a funny interview, and she is a talented actress, but I have to admit... While I once could make Excel dance, I never had any knowledge of the things she knows well: Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. I have never asked Siri to do anything. She is a ditz who knows a ton of stuff I don’t.
I so feel like the old guy in that video!
The video just makes me feel old, period.
I understand the boss's position. He's almost certainly right. She's just a ditz who can't or won't do the work he wants done.
But for my own edification, I'd like to see the results from doing things her way.
