Ever since Donald Trump sulked out of the White House, the question has never been whether he would do whatever he could to get back in, the question has always been whether he could do it. At first it looked like Trump could easily secure the Republican nomination but could not unseat President Biden.
Slowly but steadily this script is flipping.
Increasingly Trump is looking stronger against a flailing Biden, while eroding as the preferred candidate for Republicans. The prospect of the GOP turning to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is very real, if DeSantis plays his cards right and Trump continues to play his cards wrong. And a Ron DeSantis-Tim Scott ticket could be a combination Trump can’t beat.

Tim Scott is my Senator, a zero. I have sent several emails to him and his website asks if I would like a response. I have always answered yes, and have never received one, I guess he is as interested in my vote as he is in a response to a constituent.
The only thing that could sour me on DeSantis is the uniparty coming together to handpick him to be the Trump killer. Him working closely with them would be ... unsettling. Perhaps why the Hill is publishing it. To plant seeds of doubt.
Trump-DeSantis would be ideal. Trump 2024, DeSantis 2028 and 2032.

GOP strategist Keith Naughton said that while the 2024 presidential race is still very much up in the air, former Vice President Pence is the only Republican who would stand a chance against former President Trump, should he decide to run.
“There's nobody that can face off against Trump because Trump's just drawn all the oxygen out. The only person with some real name recognition and with some conservative bonafides in support of Trump is Pence. I dont think it's likely he runs, but I think he's the only one who's got a shot,” said Naughton, a principal at Silent Majority Strategies.

Back in the “old days” (like the 70s) a snail mail letter to a congressman or senator ALWAYS got a reply, even it was a snivveling cop-out from a Democrat.
Governor Desantis looks like he could “beat Trump,” ey? In 2024 if he tries this, he will be forced to deny 2020’s election fraud. And if he does, he’ll be stirring up some bad ju-ju for himself that will ONLY help the Democrats. (Think: He’ll HAVE to put the issue of 2020’s fraud aside because if DT was in office right now, Desantis could run for pres with DT’s endorsement in 2024.)

They’ll be able to take Gov Desantis down easily because illegal immigrants in Florida and he’s mean to the gaywads AND he hates transsexual kids! He should wait until 2028 and avoid fighting with someone as popular as DT, and get the President’s wholehearted endorsement. (Also, as has been pointed out on this board by others, you can’t really say someone is “cancer free” until some time has passed. That was not an ingenuous move, either. I don’t want for the nice lady to be sick and I wish her well, but she just finished treatment and there’s no way to know what will happen next until a few years have passed.)
