Tesla is recalling more than 1 million vehicles over concerns with automatic systems for car windows that can pinch a driver or passenger and cause injury when closing.
In a letter to Tesla, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed the company’s notice that it is recalling the Tesla Model 3 for the years 2017 to 2022, the Tesla Model Y for 2020-2021 and the 2021-2022 Model S and Model X vehicles.
In those models, the automatic reversal system for windows does not adequately detect an obstruction, such as a person’s arm or hand, and can continue to roll up and injure a driver or passenger.

“windows that can pinch a driver or passenger and cause injury when closing”
The batteries explode, the autodriving can crash your car, and now even the windows are trying to hurt you. Sounds like “Maximum Overdrive”.
The machines are coming for us.
Keep your dick out of the window track.
I miss power windows that only work when you hold the button. I am constantly fighting the actions of those automatic ones. Not everyone always wants the windows all the way up or all the way down.
It’s an over the air software update. It will be all over in a few days. It shouldn’t really be called a “recall” because nobody has to bring their car to a service center.
At least there’s enough of them on the road now to get the aftermarket revved up.
I see a German outfit has come out with a solution to their failing suspension A-arms.
Ford Recalls Vehicles for Automatic Window Safety Problems

When Teslas get recalled, do they automatically drive themselves back to the factory?
I listened to a presentation by a former hacker now working for Microsoft. He said, an engineer invents something like a phone. Now you can make phone calls. A hacker asks, what else can I make it do? The ability to update the software in your car over the air sounds cool. But, what else can a person with bad intentions do with that capability? I think we have reached a point where our tools, that should be under the total control of the physical user, can now do things that user doesn’t want them to do. Frankly, I don’t want my appliances, for example, talking about me behind my back.
Why is he looking more and more like Chaz Bono?
so do automatic windows in other vehicles detect obstructions and stop automatically?
just asking ‘cause i never thought to personally test that out ...
Tesla:
On certain Model 3, Model Y, and Model X vehicles, there may be a water ingress path to both front upper control arm ball joints that, over time, could possibly lead to surface corrosion of these ball joints. This may result in a creaking sound coming from the front suspension when steering at low speeds under high loads. This is exclusively an NVH condition only and does not result in premature failure of the ball joints.

My daughter had ordered a Tesla SUV, then, she saw that it just didn’t make sense to get one, other than it being a status symbol. She then went and got an Explorer instead. She’s happy with the change. She also has a VW Atlas, which is nice too.
Me? I got the RX 350, although I’m thinking of trading it in for something with a better MPG rating: it gets around 18 mpg, which is horrible. Toyota has to make big improvements in that area.
My Toyota Tundra gets terrible gas mileage but it is so big inside it’s like driving around in my living room.

Oversized electric golf kart fanbois will not be amused.

Since 2003, two Toyota Highlanders and now a Lexus GX-460.
Zero problems! Keep your RX.
