Russians are angry Putin is spending billions on an unpopular war as they freeze back home

Russians are accusing Putin of ignoring domestic problems while focusing on the war in Ukraine. Some Russians are complaining about a lack of heating in their homes, The Daily Beast reported.

Forbes Ukraine estimated last week that Russia has spent around $82 billion in war.

People living in the remote regions of the country, where conditions are at their worst, have been complaining about a lack of heating in their homes and burst water pipes, The Beast reported, citing social media posts.

Remote regions including Tyumen and Yakutia are among the worst affected, reporting many victims of frost in the past week.

"They take young men—the only breadwinners—away and send them back in coffins. The guys freeze on the front, get sick, die while their families live in poverty," Valentina Melnikova, an activist with the Soldiers' Mothers Committee, told The Beast.

"It seems authorities have no interest left in human lives at this point," she added.

Nikolay Zolotov, a Russian blogger who lives in a republic in Siberia, told the Beast: "Dark times. Ukraine is surviving without heating and light and here in Khakasia our life is awfully hard."

"Bursting pipes is not the worst problem: people live on tiny salaries in a poorly maintained city, without cash to buy food, while our government spends billions on the special operation in Ukraine," he added.

Among other costs more than $9 billion to pay off the families of servicemen killed in combat.

Mobilized Russian soldiers being deployed with little training and poor equipment have prompted more Russians to publicly voice their criticisms.

Before the war, which started on February 24, Putin admitted that poverty was Russia's biggest challenge, calling it the country's "main enemy" in 2019.

"Our main goal is to improve the quality of life for our citizens," he said.

"At least half of Freepers are anti-Putin, anti-Russia, anti-invasion. Deal with it."

Even $90 billion of stolen taxpayer money cannot convince stupid people. And it isn't half that are stupid, it is you and about 5 others who noisily post incessant MSM propaganda. Shame on you.

Someone's freezing! Billions are being wasted! It must be Putin. No. Biden. No, Ursula von der Leyen and Jens Stoltenberg. No. Putin. I'm sure. No, maybe.....

Regarding the back and forth from dueling comments;
“Russia's running out of weapons” is a daily salvo fired by the NATO proponents and SloJoe administration which “owns” the current Ukrainian government by virtue of paying their wages and retirement. Whoosh! Another salvo. “Russia is running out of missiles.” “And washing machine electronics.”

“Ukraine and NATO are running out of weapons!” An almost daily salvo is fired back by proponents of the Pooty Put. “NATO's arsenal is emptying with no production capability to restock!” Whoosh. Another salvo. “Putin's dying of cancer, Parkinson's, tremors and more.”

Drone footage! Whoosh! No, this time I MEAN it! March said someone's running our of.... June said.... October said.... December says. Whoosh. Incoming salvo. Let us all salivate, if we are in the stadium cheering on our team. Yeah team! The other side should be called “Comrade.” No, say the Gauleiters. No! The other side should be called “Gauleiters,” say the Comrades.

For the remainder for whom this is not our circus and not our clowns, the side show on FR is delightfully interesting. Whoosh! The denouement will be a surprise probably with a twist or two. Whoosh!

82 billion? Haven’t we spend several times more than that already?

Life Expectancy in Russia is lower than the Life Expectancy in Bangladesh or Azerbaijan.

One can expect to live longer in Kazakhstan than Russia.

Russia looks up to the Third World for inspiration.

“At least half of Freepers are anti-Putin, anti-Russia, anti-invasion. Deal with it. Clown.”

Neither Ukraine or Russia are worthy as an ally of the United States. We have no historical or geographic reason for this stupidity.

Currently, Ukraine became an ally when the “US-Ukraine Charter on Strategic Partnership” was signed by boneheads in the W Bush administration & updated by meatheads at the start of the Biden administration.

In most of Russia, paved roads are not a thing.

https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/roads.htm

After a thousand years, the Russian state still has not learned how to build safe and solid roads. Judge a government by its roads. An adequate road network is one of the necessary factors in the economic development of any country. Roads reflect a government’s ability to project power and to harness bureaucracy for the common good. Russia has a paved road network less than 10% of the size of the US’s, and only 5% of its total road network is considered to be “good quality”.

Reminds me of something Reagan said in the 1980s.

“In Russia the government tells their people it is so bad in the US that old people have to eat canned dog food.”

The response from the people of Russia was..”You mean they have CANNED dog food in the US?”

—> Whover comes after Putin will ditch his stupid war.

Doubtful. A hardliner will try to destroy the enemy fast.

Now the next credible US President - Trump - would negotiate an end fast.

All nations people are in a huff over heating and they see this useless Ukraine War as what started it all. though we know it was well planned back in 2014 when Obama was jerking Putins chain......and this administration is just carrying out that same plan Trumps term had interrupted.

“...This is 100% Putin’s war. No one needs this shyte-show except for the cancerous, vainglorious, megalomaniac, fake Tsar...”

Nicely worded! Putin has so many palaces he doesn’t know what to do. Just his one palace complex in Gelendzhik is reported to be worth 1.4 billion dollars. Alexiei Navalny is in prison for reporting about its true value.

I am serious here. Putin started this war because he was bored. Russia was running too well, living staandards were up, and the oligarchs were happy. The Germans were happy. Europe was happy. So delusional Putin cooked up his Tsarist ambitions to break up his boredom. All he needed was some good war and some bloody conquest.

“Our main goal is to improve the quality of life for our citizens,” he said.

He is improving the quality of life for his citizens by emptying out the prisons and sending them to the Wagner Group, where its either attack or be shot. Their only mission is to kill as many UA troops as possible, before dying. Any territory taken is merely a bonus.

Yes and no. There's a lot of gentrification in Brookyln and Jersey City.
