It’s not a question of whether Trump is happy or not. I think he calculates that this approach is what works for him. You may disagree, but in his mind he thinks, it has gotten him further than if he did otherwise.

You’re correct, because we had Nikki McRomBush types in power who hated Trump or didn’t want to fight the Democrats, or both. Ducey, Vos, Raffensberger, Kemp, Sununu, Bowers, Brnovich, McConnell, etc.
Trump has become an idol to his supporters. He attacks his Republican opponents personally and regularly. When they fail to defend Trump instantly and without the slightest hesitation, his supporters are all over them. He’s becoming his own worst enemy.
The way this works on Free Republic, we expect people in the political world who have instant reactions to any event.
So , even if some politicians such as Nikki Haley will respond to something, we will then criticize her for not responding quickly enough or forcefully enough.
