I didn’t know the particulars of the Florida law in regards to its death penalty.

In my opinion, I don’t care about age or mental acuity or sanity of the person in question. If you have done harm that is worthy of the death penalty, it should be used.

For the last two weeks in my hospitals secure holding unit, otherwise known as the psyche unit we've had a ten year old boy who beat his sister near to death with a vacuum cleaner hose. The poor girl need ten stitches to close the wound . He did this to her because he stated "She wouldn't listen to me''. Some weeks prior he doused his neighbors cat with gasoline and attempted to set it on fire. A quick thinking neighbor intervened to save the poor animal. In my opinion if this little monsters attitude is corrected in ten years he'll be holding up a liquor store and either injuring someone or killing someone. I know it sounds cruel and down right malicious by if lobotomy were still legal this little cuss would be a perfect candidate for it. Or an oven.

She wasn’t parented properly. A lot of girls are unwise on this point. They think they know somebody for a few weeks and they think they can trust him when he asks to take a walk at 2am in the morning.

Probably wanted the same kind of adventure you might have shown a girl at 2am in the morning in your youth, when she snuck out of her parent’s house at 2am.

I agree he’s beyond saving after doing something like that.

In human terms, it would appear so. Good people cry out for justice in others, and mercy for themselves. So, is our young murderer beyond redemption? From my understanding of God, I have to conclude, no he isn't.

Would that redemption 'make everything okay?' Absolutely not. His victim's family and friends will forever be affected by the events of that morning, as will he. There will be nothing he can ever do to undo his evil act. But he can be forgiven in the eyes of God by accepting that Jesus died for his sins, just like Jesus has done for all of us.

Most of us aren't murderers, but we've all done things that have separated us from God. I'm so thankful that I don't have to earn my redemption, and neither does that young man.
