Yes, let’s just forget that “three martini lunches” and offices with an ashtray on every desk were ever a thing and blame the kids for the downfall of society because a few of them sneak a puff of weed while they’re at work.

Selective memory and hypocrisy are critical items in a drug warrior’s toolbox.

There aren’t many here who don’t long for the productive 50s again.
3 martinis might get you high but 1 drink won’t. Just one joint gets you high. By the way, cigarettes don’t get you high.
Were you stoned when you wrote that?
Never had a three martini or any other such drink at lunch. Not in 40 years. We also didn’t have people who had that habit continue working for very long. By the early 80s the ashtrays were all gone.
I never saw anyone stoned from smoking a cigarette either.
We went through a time when we didn’t see that many people coughing up parts of their lungs either. We will be back to that from pot smoke too though.
As the son of a nearly lifelong alcoholic and someone who has worked in healthcare, I don’t see a problem with legalizing marijuana. Mariunana does far less damage IMO than alcohol. Just my opinion, which puts me at cross purposes with many Freepers.
I take this stance from a perspective of consistency.
Anyone who drives under the influence of weed should be prosecuted. Anyone who shows up stoned or gets stoned at work should be fired on the spot.
Period.
