Ohio GOP Senate candidate Bernie Moreno proposed at a campaign event this week that white descendants of Northern Civil War soldiers be eligible for reparations.
"We stand at the shoulders of giants, don't we? We stand on shoulders of people like John Adams, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, George Washington. That this group of people took on the largest empire in history. They said no, we will not stand for this. And won," Moreno said earlier this week, according to the New York Post.
"That same group of people later, white people, died to free black people," he continued. "It's never happened in human history before, but it happened here in America. That's not taught a lot in schools much, is it?”

Fortunately my great-great grandfathers on my mom’s side both made it home OK and like the song says “The laurel wreath is ready now to place upon his loyal brow ...”
My grandmother was mugged 6 times. Each time was by a black. In one instance, she handed her handbag to the black and said, “please don’t hurt me.” The black then smashed my grandmother in the face and knocked her to the street.

My great great grandfather is buried in Port Austin, Michigan. He was a volunteer and survived a number of the biggest battles.
I demand my reparations now.
If I don’t get them, my opponents will have Hell to pay.
My side of the family has several Union soldiers in the uncivil war.
Some died in battle, one in a confederate prison, many never recovered. My wife probablely has even more ancestors in the Civil war on the Yankee side.

How about all the civil war soldiers and make the Democrats pay for it. They started it. Then wore the white effing sheets to hang blacks. The current crop of Dems are worse than the ones back then. IMO

I would like to hear some woke liberal explain just how her white privilege in this structurally racist society failed to protect her.
It’s been said that, all humans are descendants of the blacks from Africa.
Therefore,
we should all get reparation pay for being somewhat black, and for having been discriminated against, at one time or another, somewhere..

Possibly because “reparations” for events that happened 160 years ago is a stupid idea. Oh wait Democrats only have stupid ideas so this is just one of many for them.
Yankees pay no heed to kicking a hornet’s nest in order to make a point. History cuts both ways. Wonder how many of them would clutch their pearls if Southerners pushed for reparations for Reconstruction?
My great uncle was a 17 yearold immigrant from Norway when he was drafted into the Union army to fight for the North. He was killed in a battle shortly after. He had no opportunity to have decedents. It seems like our family deserves reparations for that.
