Every ten minutes, a downtown San Francisco Target worker will reportedly see a theft.
While multiple products, such as deodorant, are under lock and key at the Metreon mall Target and security guards in bright vests wander the store, thieves are not deterred, as first reported by the San Francisco Standard.
A worker said that thieves are taking food, nail polish, liquor bottles, and even aluminum foil, which they allegedly use to smoke fentanyl. San Francisco saw a 40 percent jump in overdose deaths from January through March of this year, according to a press release from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) office.
Photos show the lipstick supply completely depleted, which a Target employee said was stocked just the morning the photo was taken.
Last November, it was reported that Target had lost $400 million due to inventory loss, attributed mostly to organized retail crime.

Just read about how woke Target is. Reap what you sow. No sympathy here.
Yup. Ayn Rand was prophetic.
“10 every 30 minutes at my closest WalMart.”
I hope you are not too close that walmart.
As at so many stores these days have strict rules against confronting shop lifters
It’s frustrating
Target is a major builder of this kind of world. Target management praises and defends it.
Just a few miles. But I have spoken with people who know the situation first-hand.
To be honest, it’s apparently true at all of them; though there are certain ones that are worse than others. Which is why you’re seeing closings.
There’s one in my area, it was brand-new about 12 years ago. My Mother (RIP) and I would go there when we were in that area.
I do NOT stop there anymore and if I had to, it would only be during the daytime and frankly, I’d drive another 10 miles to get to another one if it were possible.
At one point that store started closing around 6 p.m. Or so I heard.
There’s another one a couple of cities over. I no longer enter that store at all. For years now.
They are acrylic not glass
As it happens, I intend to go to this very Target store today (to purchase mailing supplies). I can report on the situation on the ground.
Oh, the one I’d drive to? I saw a girl (about 23-28) stealing in there one day. This was about 7-8 years ago.
Latino-looking girl.
Didn’t realize she was stealing. She was less than 10 feet away from me. Two cops standing there with their backs to her. Like 3 feet from her.
Uhhhh, cameras. DUH.
They put the cuffs on her before she got 4 feet.
Hmmm. If I were you, I’d get out of Dodge.
I am in the US for two weeks, staying in SF.
We own a house here. Maybe we should have sold it in 2021, but whatever. Let’s see where it all goes.
Companies reap what the sow...
The executives at Target Corporation cover their losses by raising prices for customers who shop at other Target stores, and also by suppressing wages for Target employees.
But but but...peoples gots to eat, y’all. What do you want dem to do? Get a real job?
I’m happy to see people get what they voted for.
With all the other stores closing in the area (the Nordstrom that closed last week is diagonally across the street), stealing from Target will be the thieves only choice. Until it closes too.
San Francisco lost for ever no turning back when only ashes are left.
“This is what Target in San Francisco looks like”
Certainly this raises the cost of running a store, and this makes the ‘Amazon’ method of selling more competitive.
Maybe hijacking Amazon trucks is the next retail theft strategy.
That is already a thing, basically.
Remember the trains being looted in California?
I had a small Amazon order that never arrived due to it being on one of those looted trains.
