A cursory examination of history reveals that the United States is mired in the same process that precipitated the collapse of the great empires of the past. The foibles and failures of human nature and their impact on the rise and fall of empires is amazingly consistent and the end result always inevitable. Can this nation avoid a similar fate?
Empires are defined as great military and economic powers encompassing large occupied or controlled land areas. Although they vary greatly, they average around 250 years in duration. The United States will be celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2026.
In 1976, Sir John Glubb, a distinguished British diplomat and general, wrote an essay on the fate of empires throughout history. He enumerated, based on 3,000 years of historical data, the six various stages in the rise and fall of empires.
These stages and how they apply to the United States are as follows:

The Age of Decadence (For 30+ years America has been increasingly mired in this age )
Good we need the BIBLICAL REPUBLIC BACK!
Very interesting but
The emphasis on the imminent takeover by China sort of denies the whole premise of the article. China has been an empire for what a thousand years or more? Why haven’t they gone through the “six stages?”
Awhile back I read an article about the fall of the Roman Empire. The author listed all the usual reasons. Then he added one of his own.
The Roman Empire fell because the Romans couldn’t conceive of it falling. The Empire was all-powerful, and evidently eternal. Rome simply could not fall! Impossible! So there was no need to take any corrective action. Party on!
Too many Americans have that same mindset today.

Is China the exception that proofs/proves the rule? If China indeed succeeds by patience and the long view of life, can America adopt that long-term thinking a well? In time?
Don't get me wrong. The Chinese people can and do get pissed off in mass from time to time.

Correctomundo...the “it can’t happen here” syndrome.
The desert Tabernacle, once brought into the land of Israel by Joshua and brought to (eventually) Shiloh.... lasted 369 years. Then the ark, etc, were brought to Jerusalem for 410 years of the first Temple. (pause for 70 year exile) Then the second Temple for 420 years.
BOY are we a baby country....
There’s a joke— Reagan asked the Chinese ambassador to America— what do you think about the American revolution in comparison to the French revolution? “Too early to tell...”
We are babies.... And aparently destined to die in infancy.
GOD is merciful. He put up with Israels and Juhda’s Rebellion for hundreds of years, just like he puts up with us believers. But when his limit is reached there is no safe place!
Good observation. All empires tend to fall sooner or later but the countries remain. In recent history the likes of Russia, Germany, and Japan have been thoroughly devastated but arose from the ashes.
We now have the USA and the USSA existing in the same space. This CAN NOT go on forever.
Normalcy bias is a thing.
My hubby has a saying that “If you don’t work constantly to maintain something, it will naturally decay”. Our nation is decaying because our elected leaders are not working to maintain it and the principles upon which it was founded. Instead, they are working to destroy it which is causing the decay to accelerate.
The Age of Decadence is marked by debauchery, defensiveness, pessimism, materialism, a significant weakening of religion, frivolity, a welfare state, and a massive influx of unassimilated foreigners. These symptoms of national decadence are the end product of long periods of prosperity and power, love of wealth and status, and self-obsession by the ruling elites leading to fateful government corruption and instability.
Sounds about right.
Immigration killed us, as long as we were the Americans we could go through cycles and self-correct.
As time and history passed Americans would have remained fundamentally who we were while always correcting the cycles in politics, culture, Christian faith, and social norms, but now there is no America because there are no Americans, just a collection of people from all over the most non-American, non-European, non-Western places on earth.
In 1960 one could make predictions about future America because you knew who the population was, but today no one has any idea what America will be like in 30 or 50 years because we don’t even know who the exotic foreign population will be, except to know that they won’t be the people who created the nation, and in fact will be the most unAmerican-unWestern-like people possible.
Good article, thanks for posting.

The West Roman Empire fell because the emperor a!!owed the Visagoths, who were fleeing the Huns, to enter the empire. Ten years later the Visagoths defeated a Roman army, killed the Emperor, and went on a rampage before settling in southern Gaul (modern day France). They were followed by the Huns, and then a plethora of barbarian tribes.
After President Michelle Obama unilaterally disarms our nuclear deterrent I think the end will be rather quick. China and Russia could work together, and both do not believe a nuclear war cannot be won.
Russia moves on the baltic states after Ukraine, China on Taiwan after a dozen EMP weapons are lit off over Western Europe and the US, followed by a few of Russia’s Poseidon 200 megaton tsunami bombs on both coasts and Europe,
Ad sh’yavo Shiloh.... Until Shiloh comes.
