Former President Donald Trump was recorded in 2021 acknowledging that he had kept “secret” military documents from his time in office without first declassifying them.
The recording of the 76-year-old’s admission has been obtained by federal prosecutors, who secured an indictment of Trump on charges including willful retention of national defense information after retrieving thousands of documents from his Mar-a-Lago resort.
“As president, I could have declassified, but now I can’t,” Trump, 76, said about a classified Pentagon paper outlining a potential military strike on Iran, according to a transcript of the meeting reported by CNN.
“Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this,” the 45th president also said. “This was done by the military and given to me.”

Note that this is from New York Post, not New York Times. The Post has been a reliable supporter or reporter of Trump. If they are printing this, it is serious or should be considered serious.

I’m voting for Trump (if he isn’t removed from the ballot) even if he is sentenced to 500 years in prison or death. He can serve from prison while he remains alive. Pick a good VP please.

First, there is no indication that the recording was made legally or little indication if the recoding is genuine.
Second, Mark Levin has already established that Mark Meadows made no deal with the federal prosecutor.
At best, the Feds have an illegally recorded and edited tape that can never be verified and genuine.
So now they will perp walk him down the up escalator made of gold.
Unless the document he referred to was one of those in his possession then why is this news? To hope the reader assumes it was?
Use credible sources, credible reporting, and fair discussion. Rants, bias, and BS will eventually catch up.
Yep, its a lie. The story doesn’t really mean Trump didn’t declassify.
Secret is not the same as saying they are not declassified.
The context of Trump's statement was important. If he never formally declassified the document(s) in question, then he probably had no clear authority as a former President to share them with anyone after he left office.
It's important to note that the "anyone" could be a very broad definition. He could potentially have been charged with violations of the Espionage Act even if he handed them over to FBI agents who arrived at Mar-a-Lago with a search warrant in their hands.
