Baby steps. Likely will need a majority in the Senate first.
That would equal every Democratic Rep except the 3 who didn't vote. No GOP members voted No. However precedent implies House members may be "expelled" but cannot be "impeached." IIRC that precedent has only been formally set on via a member of the Senate, not of the House. Early in our history the senate expelled a member for I forget what. House side thought it was heinous enough to merit more than expulsion, they wanted him barred from future office. Which impeachment process can provide. They voted to impeach the already expelled ex-Senator (which might be the only precedent allowing the House to impeach ex-President Trump) but the Senate, although on the record as believing their ex-member was guilty as charged, refused to endorse the House action with conviction. Stating that Senators were not a susceptible to the impeachment process. Presumably the same is true for House members, although I'm not sure that's ever been tested.
Excellent analysis for thought.
In retrospect since it was the voters in the members state and more specifically their constituents who reside in the members district within their home state should retain the power to remove them from office simply by not voting for them.
But we digress from the root issue which is conviction of a crime and a court of competent jurisdiction imposing a sentence of “Disqualification to hold public office”.
I believe this is what is driving the charges against President Trump. IF a court of competent jurisdiction within a state can disqualify him from being a candidate for public office I suppose that sanction would be limited to the ballots cast in that state only. However IF he is convicted of a crime in Federal Court is there a precedent that would disqualify him from serving as President even if duly elected by a majority of the “Electoral College”?
There is no provision in the constituion to preclude a felon from running and winning office of the president. But as a felon, there are more people that won’t vote for him on that point, regardless of whether the change and conviction were fair or not.
So what you are saying. Specifically for the office of the President only. Anyone can serve…
* IF
….duly elected regardless of “criminal history” or any court order suggesting the individual duly elected is “disqualified”. And that the ONLY way to remove a duly elected President is by impeachment in the House, Trial and conviction in the US Senate with an imposed sentence of “removal from office”
Look at the Constitution, there are only three qualifications: Be a natural born citizen, be at least 35 years old, and have lived the last 14 years in the US. Nothing else. So Trump can run from jail (others have), Trump can win and serve as a felon. Nothing Democrats or anyone can do about it.
For some reason the GOP is excited... Don't get it. WHY?
I don’t think a “present” vote should be allowed.
Also, they should be required to vote on every bill, unless they are not there due to illness requiring hospitalization.
(or family member requiring same thing).
On War Room today, DC Draino said that the constituents of the 20 Nay votes last week were pissed off and attacked their reps. Looks like they made an impact.
He has to go outside and piss on a tree instead of using the inside
He gets no toilet paper and has to use poison ivy, oak or sumac leaves to wipe with.
And wipe his hands off in the grass.
It’s irrelevant in the overall picture. Like being scolded by your kindergarten teacher.
A lobotomy would have been better but you couldn’t tell the before after effects anyway.
Hung for treason for lying to the American people and aiding the enemy would be preferred.
Unconfirmed—five of six censure “Present” votes are members of the House Ethics Committee, which now takes on the Schiff investigation. It is an appearance of impartiality for the Ethics Committee process.
Not a baby step.
They threw us a crumb of a milk-bone to shut us up.
(YAY for OUR team!!…)
And tomorrow, they’re stabbing us in the back again - a thousand different ways…
He loses NOTHING and in fact energizes his base. Republicans are cowards.
Notice, too, that Comey, McCabe, Strzok, et al, still have PENSIONS AND JOBS despite what they did to Trump. Republicans could do something about that too. But won’t.
This censure has less meaning and effect than the “cootie shot” I got while in elementary school!!
It’s literally congress wagging their finger at him saying tsk tsk
You’d have more consequences for doing 42 in a 35. At least there you’d have a fine. Here, it’s nothing
Gosar was re-elected due to his censure.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has also filed a resolution to expel Schiff, though it has not progressed in the chamber.
Thanks, I wondered what the effect would be.... 🤣
