I have a couple of comments on Stockton Rush. First, he was an aerospace engineering. The forces etc deep under water are totally different. Also, he went to Princeton, but was probably bought in, and it didn't hurt having the names of two signers of the Declaration of Independence in his name.

This guy had safety concerns and didn't go.

He also had “scheduling issues.”

My guess is at the moment, the scheduling issues were more critical. The safety issues took precedence last week. Every time something like this happens, people line up to show how “smart” they were. I’m not buying it from this guy.

~~~
I knew that was true but didn’t think much about it until you mentioned it. That sub design probably would have held up just fine in the vacuum of space, where the forces of pressurization exert and outward force on the hull, but even though they are the opposite the forces can’t possible as the inward compressive forces of deep sea pressures on the hull. The sub design was long and I remember seeing in a video how they wrapped it with the carbon-fiber striping all along the cylinder. A cylinder is going to be weak at the middle along its axis. A more spherical shape would have been a better design for compressive forces.
Had he been on the sub when the mission failed, he would have been crushed.
Not sure why the fact he’s Jewish was so important that it had to be mentioned several times.
Soon, the number of people that turned down going will exceed the population of TX. Everyone wants to attach themselves to a big story.
Sounds like the sub tours were basically dangled as bait to lure investors.
If I was a billionaire, I am not sure a private ride down to the Titanic on an untested sub built by amateurs using novel methods and materials would be enticing, but it obviously was to some.
Like the black boxer who was the victim of racial discrimination. He couldn’t get a ticket for the maiden voyage of the Titanic.
Before Titan what was the depth limit for a cylindrical sub?
So what is the difference between OceanGate and Heaven’s Gate?
Not much...a leap of faith without the science can be deadly.
Delusional bastaerd thought was the Richard Branson commanding a new Nautilus, instead he was far more aligned with Flat Earth Freddie "Mad Mike" Hughes.
How is it a billionaire didn't put his own safety first, and was running into funding shortages? Makes no sense.
But here's hoping every family with someone on that can gets paid, except the mooselime lulululululululu!!!!
“It looks like an Electrolux vacuum cleaner but with a cute little flipped up tail at the end”:)
“Hmmm. It’s small. Is it safe?”
“Sure it’s safe! We bolt you in so it’s perfectly safe:) It drops like a stone down to 12,500 feet and you can see the Titanic through that little glass window!”
“What do you mean you bolt me in?”
I’m going. Do you think I’d go if it wasn’t safe?
“What do you mean you bolt me in? Nuh uh. Nuh uh”!
“You’re stupid”!
When people try to intimidate other people into spending money it is always a sign they should grab their wallet and run.
Nobody gonna miss Stockton dbag.
