What state?
Arizona has constitutional carry but I still opted for one. It only costs $45 for five years for renewal. I can carry into AZ bars (as long as I don’t drink alcohol), buy a firearm faster than non-CCW, and is valid in 38 states.
There is a very good reason for obtaining a firearms permit regardless of where you live.
There is a Federal Law prohibiting possession of a firearm within a quarter of a mile of a school. There is an exemption in that law for those with a firearms permit. IOW, if you drive withing a quarter of a mile of a school and don’t have a permit, you are a federal felon.
In Arizona, a CCW makes carry in a few areas that are illegal for constitutional carry. Bars, school zones and such if I recall correctly.
Less to wonder about.
“There are, I don’t know, some hundreds of thousands of people out there that might be carrying unlicensed, and we don’t know who they are,” Golden said. “We don’t know what their history is and we don’t know if they’ve learned any shooting proficiency.”
You also don’t know if they have a knife, if they know martial arts, have made some device that can explode, or a myriad of other things. You don’t know any of their history or capabilities......SO
Figures never Lie, but Liars Figure.
Yes, I own a hand gun. No, I don't have a CCP.
I don't carry often, when I do it is local and between the farm and my home in town.
Inside Texas to carry one in the glove has always been legal. Extension of your house is the logic, I've been told.
When I go out of my home area inside Texas, I don't normally carry. Too great a risk of having one stolen from the glove box.
Why don't I get a CCP? It costs and it is putting my name on another list. I have nothing to hide. Never been arrested or even threatened with arrest. But I have learned that the truth is not assurance that someone will not dislike you because of your view of the world. Those records are everywhere. And they are often inaccurate because of the idiots who collect the data.
The most frightening thing I have come to understand, since the ESG thing for banking, insurance and major corporations, far too often include the ChiCom social scoring system attached. It is compiled including your political views and your attitude toward current government.
I got my conceal carry permit but the reason was due to nics check. I would always get a delay when purchasing a firearm from an ffl. One time the owner of the establishment I frequent asked if I had a security clearance at any time of my life. I told him I had a top secret clearance in the military but that was way back in the 80s. His response was go get your ccw, sometimes you get false flagged if you’d had a security clearance. Now I have no issues if I make a new purchase.
Bunch of faggotry and Texas Department of Public Safety handwringing.
It’ll inflame the bearded tacticool crowd and hobbiest experts, but if you have the strength, dexterity and hand and eye coordination to run a blow dryer, you can run a pistol well enough to protect yourself.
Every child can pick up a water pistol and hit you dead on.
Getting training and some practice is always useful and beneficial, but there is too little common sense out there.
The nervous nellies love to pretend you need expert levels of training lest you be helpless to save yourself, but still a menace to the community. Gunnies enjoy basking in the misconception that doing well with a pistol requires a near Samurai blackbelt Zen level of training.... as they holster pistols in the front of their pants aimed right at Mr Johnson.
Pistols are simple and effective. This scare article is a joke.
But in Texas I’d get a permit that will be recognized out of state in many places.
Your LTC is the 2nd. Amendment. Just photocopy that , get it laminated and carry it in your wallet.
most states don’t reciprocate wi non licensing states...
my Utah permit is good on iirc 30+ states
they have their advantages
Same here. Don’t need one here in Kansas, we are a free concealed carry state. Just renewed mine in case I want to carry concealed in a neighboring state that honors the Kansas Concealed Law.
I corrected myself on 15. Maryland.
From the article: “What permitless carry means to me is that somebody can just go and buy a gun and start carrying around without ever having pulled the trigger, let alone learn about any of the laws,” Reuben said. “You’re not just removing the requirement of a license. You’re also removing the requirement for minimal training.”
All the more reason for required gun classes in middle or high school! Call them gun safety classes....
that’s the only reason I renewed my Missouri CCW. I went to New Orleans last fall and carried every day, legal all the way. I can also carry all the way till I get in the coastal communist provinces.
You have constitutional carry in Texas. Why would you leave it in your truck?
And show it to your new friends in jail. Depending on, of course, what state you live in.
I got rid of all my guns...kept my bow and some knives.
“ e emphasized that with permitless carry came the ability to have a gun without undergoing any training.
“What permitless carry means to me is that somebody can just go and buy a gun and start carrying around without ever having pulled the trigger, let alone learn about any of the laws,” Reuben said. “You’re not just removing the requirement of a license. You’re also removing the requirement for minimal training.“
Would he say The first amendment needs minimal training to be used also?
