Some places post no weapons signs. If I leave the gun in the glove box, that is a likely place for them to be stolen.

Stores, restaurants, public buildings, etc.

I’m very attached to my revolver, sweetest shooting gun I have ever shot.

Didn’t say to disregard laws or whatever.

You still have to pass a background check when purchasing a gun from a dealer.

ATF Form 4473 still app!ies.

What a CCW here means I dont have to wait 3 days to take possession of any gun I buy, it goes home with me after the paperwork clears, bout an hour around here. Hanguns and long guns are the same.

You had to do the 4473, but if you show a valid carry license they don’t do the NICS background check.

They scan all the 4473’s into databases anyway, so in the end you’re really not much better off.

Bullcrap, the dealer calls it in, the ATF still does a full NICS background check for every gun purchase from a FFL in the US.

What country are you from?

When’s the last time you ever bought a gun?

Take it up with the sources then. I know it for a fact.

https://giffords.org/lawcenter/state-laws/background-check-procedures-in-texas/#:~:text=Federal%20law%20does%20not%20require,requirement%20when%20purchasing%20a%20handgun.

Federal law does not require dealers to conduct a background check if a firearm purchaser presents a state permit to purchase or possess firearms that meets certain conditions. As a result, handgun license holders in Texas are exempt from the federal background check requirement when purchasing a handgun.Jan 5, 2023

Actually your recollection about the old law in Texas is incorrect. It was always legal to carry in your vehicle only if you were a ‘bona fide traveler”. Bona fide traveler was poorly defined, but if you were going between counties and had a suitcase / planned to stay overnight you were ok. Always carrying locally in your glove compartment wasn’t legal though.

The Mercedes dealer in Austin’s repair shop entrance used to have a placard : “NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PISTOLS OR WHISKEY LEFT IN GLOVE COMPARTMENT”.

There is an epidemic of gun thefts from vehicles in upscale business and residential areas in Austin/Travis county now that APD has been hobbled by the city council and Soros DA. Don’t bring one you aren’t willing]/able to replace nd leave it in your glove box - I would carry it even in a business with a 30-06 or 95% sign rather than bring it and leave it. In fact they have had abductions of girls that parking lots that don’t have surveillance cameras at the Domain. And I am not saying Austin is worse than any other Texas big city.

In response to your reasoning about getting on a list, I have found that police making a traffic stop are more relaxed if you have a CHL, since you have a clean background check. CHL holders are more likely straight arrows than policemen.

It’s the same in Missouri, and I think it’s wise to have the permit. With a permit, except for public transportation and, of course, federal facilities (including the Post Office), the most anyone can do is ask you to leave. If you refuse, you’re charged with trespassing.

It also protects you from the Gun Free Safety Act.

Hmm well not here my friend in Arkansas you present your CCW and complete ATF Form 4473, the sales person checks it against your DL and CCW, pay for your purchase and out the door you go..And before you say it I have purchased over 200 guns of all kinds so I know the process. If you are in Texas that might be the case not in Arkansas.

Some places post no weapons signs.

You're more law-abiding than me. And, of course, it's totally your choice.
For me, if there's no metal detector, I carry. I'm not gonna go unarmed because of some skittish business owner. Or I just won't do business there.

Look. I am 75 years old. May family has owned and operated farms here since 1889. I’ve never in my life been questioned about a firearm.

Don’t expect to be questioned> But when they decide to come from outside the state to take weapons, they will not like how that is received.

And, Yes, we need to take back Austin. Evict the the leftie freaks from the state they are trying to subvert.

I keep mine for travel outside the state. I’m currently on a 23 state motorcycle Coddiwomple and need it occasionally.

Makes people mad but that’s my opinion! And I didn’t even mention the stream of stories where some 80 year old grandma retrieves the revolver in the bureau drawer or the .22 in the closet and drops that intruder like a poleaxed steer.

She hasn’t fired a shot in decades, couldn’t begin to tell you who Clint Smith or Elmer Keith is. Yet, there is his centerpunched carcass right there on the floor.
