House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that “informal conversations” are taking place for a bipartisan solution to the House speakership.
Jeffries concluded, “We want to ensure that votes are taken on bills that have substantial Democratic support and substantial Republican support so that the extremists aren’t able to dictate the agenda.”

No! The Dems definition of the words negotiate, and bi-partisan, is getting everything they want.
OK. I will thank Matt Gaetz for all of this.
Our nominal majority in the House has turned out to be worthless. We had nothing with McCarthy as speaker and we have nothing now with the Republicans deadlocked in factional infighting.
We aren't any worse off now than we were. But it is just possible that the less Congress does, the better things go for ordinary people.
McCarthy got booted because he lied and repeatedly betrayed his base. That is a valuable incentive that we should keep firmly in place. And the same lesson must be applied to the next guy that steps up. And the one after that. Do what you said you would do or get kicked to the curb.
Maybe we are slightly better off than we were after all. If the lesson sticks, we will be much better off.
How about that end to funding government by "Continuing Resolutions"?
How about an end to "Omnibus spending bills"?
How about using single-topic bills for funding government departments and major activities?
Do we want to put more money into the Ukraine war? Do we want to put more money into the Israeli war? Answer these questions separately and independently with a recorded vote. Then live with the consequences.
The Democrats do not want Republicans and do not really need them anymore to keep up the pretense of "Our Democracy"(tm). The Republicans should focus on that point.
If the Democrats can exploit the conflicts between Republicans to gain effective control of the House (a "bipartisan solution"), the country is destroyed, and the Republicans become completely irrelevant. And they all lose their phony-baloney jobs.
Republicans had better get their priorities straightened out.
Seems to be a few people who would rather Jefferies than Jordan. Since there is an election next year I think it’s not a bad time to know who they are. You’ll never win if you never fight.
First of all, those “informal conversations” are taking place for a bipartisan solution to the House speakership are being led by none other than the Lunatic Rep. Mike Rogers, he’s the scumbag that is pushing this nonsense along with a few of his butt buddies in the Republican party.
Second of all, there will not be any more of the stupid “secret Votes” taking place so the baby moderates cannot hide and they will be exposed. The babies in the Republican party are why we are 33 trillion in debt. No more business as usual!
Finally, for all of you on this site that want to continue blaming Matt Gaetz for doing his job, you are in the minority as the majority of American voters approve of what he has done in getting rid of your master Kevin McCarthy.
So wake up! The good old boy network is dying and no more business as usual and no more spending borrowed money.
If you people allow a lunatic from Alabama to destroy what is left of the Republican party then that failure in on you!
History will prove Matt Gaetz is a hero that took on the establishment.
Everyone blames Gaetz when all he’s tried to do is get rid of the Dems running as Republicans!
Put the blame where it belongs!
Example?
Right now we have Mike Rogers from Alabama’s 3rd district, a red district, actively working with the Dems to get Jefferies the speaker position!
Why don’t you folks blame the stinking RINOs?🤔
I see this as McCarthy’s fault. Good riddance to bad garbage.
“History will prove Matt Gaetz is a hero that took on the establishment.”
Agreed. I wish he was my representative.
Like Lizard Cheney ???
That was only because the majority caucus had a comfortable margin to play with. The dysfunction you're seeing here happens all the time. You just never noticed it before because the "insurgents" never had enough votes to matter.
Go back to January 2015 when the House elected its Speaker after the 2014 elections. John Boehner got 216 votes, and was elected Speaker because only 205 were needed for a majority (only 408 House members voted).
Nancy Pelosi got 164 votes. There were 28 votes cast for people other than the two major party nominees.
The only reason you’re seeing this dysfunction playing out now is that the GOP majority is so narrow that even a small group of fringe players has a lot of leverage to scuttle the whole process.
If that happens the GOP is finished. Why bother going out to vote for these communist collaborators.
This is exactly what happens in the Texas House and it gives effective control to the rats. Kevin proved to be a cuck so l am fine with him out. Jordon has called for a Public vote on Tue. Good, shine the light on the rino collaborators.
Democrats are the extremists...period.
SO true.
On X, the Dems are throwing this hopeful theory around. I think it’s BS but it’s also scary.
They are saying some RINOS are going to vote with the Dems and install Hakim Jefferies as speaker.

Dems and a few RINOs
Gaetz is likely doing this because he's aiming to become a senator. Hopefully for the right reasons.
It's always a bad time to blow up the republican party to out the RINOs because the repubs never get a good majority. Why is that? Because of low turnout. Why the low turnout? Because the repub we vote for has a good chance of being a RINO. It's been a never ending cycle and look where we are.
I say blow the useless party up a little here and there from now on. Social media is the new news and Gaetz knows how to use it. Everyone who's paying attention knows Rogers is a full blown RINO now so I imagine he won't be around much longer.
“ Jordan should go along with the illiberal democrats plan, get the speakership,”
Only McCarthy had the votes.
The next Speaker is Hakeem Jeffries.
“ First of all, those “informal conversations” are taking place for a bipartisan solution to the House speakership are being led by none other than the Lunatic Rep. Mike Rogers, he’s the scumbag that is pushing this nonsense along with a few of his butt buddies in the Republican party.”
A few of his butt buddies?
Jeffries only needs 5.
Dems never use the word, “bipartisan”, when they’re the majority. They steamroll over everyone when they have the power.
