In the world of diplomacy, you have to pretend all cultures are equal. Probably, as a diplomat, you might believe this.
It’s easy to believe it if you only deal with diplomats and don’t live in the other culture as someone who isn’t at the top of the food chain. Everyone who dealt with the Nazi diplomats found them to be urbane, friendly, fun to be with and terrific dinner companions. That’s the nature of a successful diplomat. So, it’s hard to deny them the equal rights the west goes on so much about. Thus, we end up with absurdities like putting misogynistic* racists in charge of the Human Rights Council. Afterall, they’re wonderful dinner guests.
* Using all the descriptive words that apply in this sentence would have turned this post into a thesaurus entry.
You need to understand how the OIC has framed terms to see what is meant by “human rights”. Human rights is Islam and whatever advances islam. Everything else is secondary to this conceit, this legal presumption.
Until we deal with the definitions used expect more of the same.
