Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) is facing questions about the viability of his political brand after a disappointing election in his home state.

Youngkin threw himself on the line for down-ballot Virginia Republicans ahead of Tuesday to achieve a GOP trifecta in the state’s government.

“Suburban white harpies came out to play last night”

That they did - and sadly, as long as abortion’s in play they’ll continue to do so in significant numbers.

...... I wonder how many Suburban White Harpies will come out to play in the National Election and if it might be something for us to be concerned about?

Youngkin has been reading too many of his own press clippings. This election shows that, contrary to Youngkin’s narrative, his winning of the governorship and House last election was not solely because of “a really good ground game.” Youngkin decided to let his name be floated as an opponent to Trump, the guy who put him and the House over the top last election. I suppose Youngkin needed Trump in this election and didn’t get his help.

Weak like DeSantis

Unfortunately, the Right needs to be inspired to get off the couch and vote. The Left hungers for the chance to make their vote heard.

Complacency deserves no rewards

FTA-——Wednesday, Youngkin’s Spirit of Virginia PAC pointed to the Democrats’ money advantage......and even some silver linings including that Republicans won 13 districts Tuesday that were won by Biden in 2020, along with seven districts that congressional Democratic candidates won last year.

Also touted was Youngkin’s Secure Your Vote Virginia
Program, that was said to have had a positive effect on turnout.

“The upshot is the outcome.......even the media narrative focused on the fact that the election was decided by one-tenth of one percent of roughly 2.3 million votes cast this year. In a state Biden carried by 10 points, Republicans came within just a few thousand votes of winning majorities in both legislative chambers.”

That needs to be said again.

As long as abortion, or any threat to its availability is on the ballot, the Democrats *WILL* turn out.

We adapt or perish.

He’s fine, it will all be forgotten soon. You are fighting the DC scum that live in Virginia because they think they are too good to live in DC with the riff raff.

How, specifically, do you know who decided and floated what?

Consider this:
When a state, like Kansas or Ohio, votes to keep abortion legal, that state is no longer in play for liberals. They move on.

Their issue has been nullified.

I agree. The GOP has been able to coast on Roe v Wade. Now they have to run on the issue and we are losing. Put it t on the ballot and let the voters decide.

The Republican Party simply abandoned Virginia. I’d see a broadcast TV and there would be every single ad in an hour Democrat ads. No car ads. No yougurt commercials. Nothing but Democrat ads. Never saw a single Republican ad.

This demographic doesn’t get talked about enough on Free Republic because many people on this site would rather talk about foreigners, urban blacks, illegals, etc.
The rise of the current democrat coalition appeals to female voters, the trend became noticeable with the election of Reagan and has been increasing in size with each election.

The Republican Party isn’t oblivious to the situation and has done its best to pander to these voters, but these efforts haven’t changed the fact that its a pretty thin harvest every election.
If you look at an electoral map and only women could vote. We’d be living in a dystopian socialist country only Bernie Sanders could love.

*As long as abortion, or any threat to its availability is on the ballot, the Democrats *WILL* turn out.*

How hard is it to get on the ballot? If that’s the secret sauce we’re screwed.
Look-abortion is legal in England. It’s not an issue there because they voted on it. Roe was not voted on. Hopefully 50 states will decide for themselves. That’s all we could ever hope for when it was overturned.

It looks like the current Republican Party is just mailing it in. They don’t fight very well and can’t raise & spend money properly.

I’m familiar with this type of Republican because they dominate my state party. They fight some controversial social issues, but at the end of the day they’re just incompetent moderate pigs sucking on the same government & corporate tit as the democrats.
