The national average of gas prices could drop to the lowest level around Thanksgiving in years, according to new estimates.

On Monday, AAA reported the average national price of gas was about $3.31 per gallon — nearly a 10 percent decrease from last year’s average of $3.67 per gallon during the same period. The national average for gas prices has fallen or remained flat for about 60 consecutive days, according to a AAA press release last week.

“in years”

From the article:

The analysis also estimated that gas demand could continue to drop over the next one to two weeks, meaning that the U.S. could see “potentially the lowest gas prices since 2021 by Christmas.”

Heh!
I keep a log of my fill ups.
Paid $1.85 per gallon on 12-12-2020.
“Since 2021,” indeed.

$3.69/gal here in Northeast Illinois. Prices vary wildly in a 20mi radius around me. As low as $3.13 and as high as $3.79.

I last paid $3.15/gal at Costco in Bolingbrook, IL two days ago. Gas stations near me (not in Bolingbrook, IL) are averaging $3.69/gal and went up 30 cents in the past two weeks.

EV’s do not need gas hahahaha

Correct, they're typically "refueled" using Coal or Diesel.

$2.59 gas today in my town in FLorida.

Also central FL, $2.49 after 25-cent discount at Circle K, lowest I've paid in a long time. In the words of Led Zeppelin, ooooh it makes me wonder...

A national average price is of no use to those in the $4.50 - $6.00 range.

"Gas prices could hit lowest Thanksgiving level in years"

A carrier battle group near the oil shipping lanes can have that effect.

I talk to young people riding scooters and bikes and some don't even own cars, they say when they want to take a trip they just rent one. A lot of older folks use ride services like MedRide, etc. We are also entering the lower demand season for gasoline. I predict we will see more energy price volatility in the future due to onerous govt policies worldwide.
