RC’s should flee.

No, God hopefully will either correct Frankie's errors, or bring him to his eternal reward, and the college of Cardinals should appoint a next Pope who is a true Catholic.

Its OUR church. No fleeing!

Pope Frankie has crossed into heresy

He's been there for quite a while.

It looks to me as though the Pope got it right this time. He said in no uncertain terms that marriage is and will remain a sacrament between a man and a woman.
He also said that priests were allowed to bless a same sex couple if there was no confusion that it was in no way a marriage.
Sounds like Catholic Church SOP.
I went through the Catholic school system in the mid 50’s-early 70’s. I participated in athletics from grade school through college and seeing a priest running around a locker room was not uncommon.
I really didn't pay much attention to it but I know that before every game a priest was on hand to say a prayer for the all male team and to give them a blessing.
A blessing is just a blessing. It isn't even close to the marriage sacrament, and that difference is probably going to give Francis a real headache with the BLTGMNOP types.

What loathsome serpent that man is. Now to pray for the Papacy.

No, that's what Protestants do. Catholics stay and fight.

This action by the Holy Father is not in keeping with the teachings of the Church Fathers and should be utterly rejected by the faithful.

If it doesn't "resemble marriage" then what exactly is he "blessing"?

I know, I'm commenting on a headline without reading the post, but this makes no sense.

People can actually read what the Pope/Vatican said: https://www.vaticannews.va/en/vatican-city/news/2023-12/fiducia-supplicans-doctrine-faith-blessing-irregular-couples.html

To bless an individual homosexual I can understand because we all are blessed by God and we are all sinners.

However, to bless homosexual couples is to bless the sinful act of sodomy. How can this be????

What am I missing??

Makes sense. A gay marriage doesn’t resemble a real marriage.

There’s more sex...

The church has fallen. I was in the Episcopal Church when it fell, and I know this drill. Nothing but pain and suffering will follow.

Go ask someone who left the Episcopal church to be an Anglican what happened? Some of them even left and joined the Catholic Church thinking It would never happen there. I think the Orthodox Church is the only real liturgical Church left.

In my Baptist circles I’ve often got opposition for believing many Catholics love Jesus and have put their faith in Christ the crucified One. I’m not so sure about the Catholic hierarchy. The Catholic Church needs another Great Schism and anathemize this current imposter.

Back in 2017 our daughter got married. Two of her friends identified as lesbians and were living together. I think this was after one of them got pregnant with a turkey baster and the other one adopted the little girl. So as we were leaving the reception I stopped by their table and talked with them about banal things but then said “God bless you.” They burst into laughter. Oh well.

Back in the “good old days”of the religion forum here, many Catholics told me that the Pope would never be able to do what he has been doing.

I pray for them on occasion, those old posters who have mostly dropped off one by one.

Choose who you will serve.

IF Catholic Theology on the inerrancy of the papacy is correct, then you have a major problem.
This is under the “faith and morals” side of the thing.

So either the Pope is not Catholic (which opens up a large can of worms), Vatican I was wrong (a larger can), or the Catholic Church is not Catholic, the biggest can of all.

What many of us Lutherans have been pointing out here for a while is the issue. By saying the Pope is not capable of making a mistake in faith and morals you paint yourself in a very dangerous corner, and one that DID NOT EXIST UNTIL THE 1870s

insisting that people seeking God’s love and mercy shouldn’t be subject to “an exhaustive moral analysis” to receive it.

Affirmation of sin rather than calling for repentance?
