The cultural revolution continues. And its target of the moment is William Penn: the liberal Quaker who founded Pennsylvania. And since Columbus, Ohio canceled Christopher Columbus, the Biden administration is moving to cancel Penn in Pennsylvania.

I heard that it was because he owned slaves. Of course it was at a time when owning slaves was commonplace around the world, but context doesn’t matter. In the future, historic figures will be erased for outrages such as they ate meat.
I believe Quakers were opposed to slavery. The earliest abolitionists were Quakers.

I went and checked some refs on whether Penn owned slaves. Several say he owned 12 but those were media type sources, therefore unreliable. The encyclopedia Britannica said nothing about slaves. I’m undecided on the matter.
