I still remember the Ft. Lauderdale airport when you had to walk outdoors to the plane, and your luggage was delivered roadside to a metal rack on the sidewalk.

Latest traveler survey I saw from a few months ago had ATL ranked as the best airport in the U.S. I live in the ATL area but haven’t flown in years so I can’t comment.

I remember the shuttles from the private parking lots were pretty efficient in getting me back and forth, and I didn’t have trouble inside the ATL airport getting to my gate.

I remember transferring through Baltimore, and my flights were always at the far end of the airport, seemed like endless walking. Flying out of Chicago there always seemed to be some type of delay.

I have to agree with Liberty Int'l in Newark being number one. Been there thrice over the years. Man it sux rox.

When the FAA gives the airline industry an enema...Liberty Int'l is where they stick the tube.

LaGuardia has to be the worst. I heard the air traffic controllers are still using equipment from the 1960s plus their runways are too short.

I can’t believe Austin isn’t on that list. Always leave early. Getting there is half the fun.

Functionally, it’s a good airport. Logistically, it being miles away from Denver in the middle of nowhere has to be a negative for employees to get to and from work.

ATL is also one of the busiest so that’s a feather in their cap

They just put a bunch of money into SAN.

Midway should be on this list.

San Diego is in real trouble in 20 years unless they move it.

But landing at San Diego is a real treat.

I hate flying in general, I’ve only been to two of those and yes they do suck. Wasn’t impressed with Sea-Tac or Logan either. Beam me up! Transporter technology would be great.

DFW........fond memories of the first time I used it. I didn’t know about Skylink, so I walked from the arrival gate in one wing of the terminal to my departure gate in another wing. Must have been nearly a mile.

I agree 100%. LAX is an absolute third-world sh*thole airport, and I do everything I can to avoid it. The persistent vagrants in the baggage claim areas are the cherry on top of the sh*t sundae.

Depends on how often you go to DFW and who you are. Just dropped my wife off there. She is handicapped and can’t walk far. We followed the signs at the American Airlines terminal to “curbside check-in.” Nope. Dark and boarded up. Well, this end of the terminal doesn’t seem busy, so we followed the signs for curbside check-in at the other end of the terminal. Nope, also dark and boarded up.

After four loops of the terminal, I dropped her off at the main entrance, hoping she could find a porter. Signage is inadequate and not handicap friendly. I don’t go there often enough to know the signs are years out of date. I suggested she sue under the ADA. She won’t, but somebody should.

As much as I don’t like the city of Newark, NJ ... I’m surprised the airport there gets so much bad press. Various parts of it have been undergoing a massive staged renovation dating back to the 1990s, and I’m sure that plays into the poor ratings. But for a metro area of 25+ million people it’s very convenient to get in and out of there — to the point where an airline passenger traveling to and from most of New York City is better off using Newark Airport than either of the two NYC airports.

I have flown from several European airports that are far worse than EWR. Frankfurt in particular is on my “no fly” list.
