He Folds! In Major Reversal, Speaker Johnson to Introduce Bill to Send $17.6 Billion to Israel Amid Border Security Fight
The Gateway Pundit ^ | February 3, 2024 | Cristina Laila

House Speaker Mike Johnson will introduce a bill to send $17.6 billion to Israel in emergency aid without corresponding spending cuts amid a fight over border security.

The first standalone Israel aid package voted on included IRS cuts, which of course received heavy backlash by Democrats and was rejected by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

The new Israel funding bill will exclude the IRS cuts.

"While the Senate appears poised to finally release text of their supplemental package after months of behind closed doors negotiations, their leadership is aware that by failing to include the House in their negotiations, they have eliminated the ability for swift consideration of any legislation,” speaker Johnson wrote in a letter to colleagues.

"Given the Senate’s failure to move appropriate legislation in a timely fashion, and the perilous circumstances currently facing Israel, the House will continue to lead. Next week, we will take up and pass a clean, standalone Israel supplemental package.”

No. You’ve compared; now contrast. They’re quite different.

If the money was to help Putin vs. the only Middle East reliable ally against Islam and the Leftist supporters then maybe the Gateway Pundit would support it. Thus it opposes aid to Israel who Israel which faces Russian enemy offensive and defensive systems.

But apart from the military, the US debt is mainly due to expansive social programs.

Depending on how one cuts the pie, then:

https://static.nationalpriorities.org/images/charts/2021-charts/total-thumb.png

https://www.brookings.edu/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/non-defense-discretionary-outlays And as for US aid, much of that is returned via purchases.

Israel ends up sacrificing far more value in return for the nearly $4 billion it annually receives from Washington. That’s because nearly all military aid to Israel—other than loan guarantees, which cost Washington nothing, the U.S. gives Israel no other kind of aid—consists of credits that go directly from the Pentagon to U.S. weapons manufacturers. In return, American payouts undermine Israel’s domestic defense industry, weaken its economy, and compromise the country’s autonomy—giving Washington veto power over everything from Israeli weapons sales to diplomatic and military strategy. When Washington meddles directly in Israel’s domestic affairs, as it does often these days, Israeli leaders who have lobbied for these payments—including current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—are simply reaping the rewards of their own penny-wise, pound-foolish efforts.
The Israeli military, often ranked as the fourth-most powerful in the world, has become an adjunct to American power in a crucial region in which the U.S. has lost the appetite for projecting military force. Israeli intelligence functions as America’s eyes and ears, not just in the Middle East but in other key strategic theaters like Russia and Central Asia and even parts of Latin America. Controlling access to the output of Israel’s powerful high-tech sector is a strategic advantage for the U.S. that alone is worth many multiples of the credits Israel receives. - https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/end-american-aid-israel [and that source is actually opposing the amount of aid.]
The only option here is to contend that the US should be an isolationist country.

Friends with Benefits: Why the U.S.-Israeli Alliance Is Good for America by Michael Eisenstadt, David Pollock ...

. The U.S.-Israeli alliance now contributes more than ever to American security, as bilateral cooperation to deal with both military and nonmilitary challenges has grown in recent years... it is a two-way partnership whose benefits to the United States have been substantial. The other, less tangible costs of the U.S.-Israeli alliance -- mainly, damage to Washington's reputation in Arab and Muslim countries, a problem also caused by American interventions and decades of U.S. support for autocratic leaders in the Middle East -- pale in comparison with the economic, military, and political gains it affords Washington.

Israel has also emerged as an important niche defense supplier to the U.S. military, with sales growing from $300 million per year before September 11 to $1.1 billion in 2006, due to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Israel's military research and development complex has pioneered many cutting-edge technologies that are transforming the face of modern war, including cyberweapons, unmanned vehicles (such as land robots and aerial drones), sensors and electronic warfare systems, and advanced defenses for military vehicles. - https://www.washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysis/friends-benefits-why-us-israeli-alliance-good-america

The U.S.-Israeli economic and commercial relationship now spans IT, bio-tech, life sciences, health care solutions, energy, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, defense industries, cyber-security, and aviation, to name just a few sectors.
Critical components of leading American high-tech products are invented and designed in Israel, making these American companies more competitive and more profitable globally. Cisco, Intel, Motorola, Applied Materials, and HP are just a few examples.
Israel is home to more than 2,500 U.S. firms employing some 72,000 Israelis, according to an estimate by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Thousands more jobs are supported indirectly by these employers.
The Massachusetts Example
The New England-Israel Business Council released a study that shows that Israeli-founded businesses have generated about 9,000 jobs in Massachusetts alone, and indirectly support an additional 18,000. These companies represent nearly four per
cent of the state’s GDP. And that is just one state. In Beersheva – less than an hour’s train ride from Tel Aviv –American and Israeli companies are working side-by-side at CyberSpark. It is a fast-growing, world-class, hi-tech office park, adjacent to a top academic institution, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and not far from where critical public-sector institutions, such as the IDF’s cyber and intelligence units, will soon be located. This unique eco-system is rapidly attracting more American companies to take part in developing the defenses that will protect the new economy. - https://il.usembassy.gov/our-relationship/policy-history/fact-sheet-u-s-israel-economic-relationship/

He broke a single funding bill out of a bad package, and is allowing the House to vote on it.

That is exactly what you demanded McCarthy do during omnibus and debt ceiling negotiations, and now Johnson is doing it and you are spazzing out. You are ridiculous, it's a bad look for a newbie.

I like it — a nice FOAD message to the Jew haters.

Agree. Splitting out spending items from the Omnibus practice is the way to wean Congress critters from the easy but corrupt Omnibus products.

No, I’m just flat out opposed to giving Israel American taxpayers dollars in the billions. They don’t need it. They’ve got plenty of money and sophisticated fighter jets and military equipment to sustain themselves. NO MORE MONEY FOR ISRAEL! NO MORE MONEY FOR UKRAINE!

‘You are right...We need to help Israel in every way we can. Why?? Because 99.99% of those Palestinians are Muslims and their goals have never changed..
“Kill all the Christians and Jews”...and world domination.”

Are you unaware the Talmud calls for the extermination if Christians dozens and dozens of times? Those who killed Christians will have high place in heaven. Christians must never cease to exterminate them they must never leave them in peace. If you kill a christian, you commit no sin but you offer an acceptable sacrifice to god.No festival. These are actual quotes. Yes, the Muslim hatred for Christians is immense, but his miniscule compared to the hatred found in the talmud.

You’d be correct! Our US soldiers died for Israel while Israel refused to fight and die against Iraq.

I actually like your meme! :)

But the truth is... and its sad to say, we are all deeply rooted in globalism.
Whether we like it or not.

It’s a romantic idea to liberate ourselves from globalism. I like it.
But INTERNET alone, the World Wide Web, made that dream impossible to realize.

Then comes all the special things we need that only our enemies have... China has 90% of the rare earth reserves for example.
Luckily China needs things only the West has as well... That’s why they don’t dare stopping the shipping of rare earth to us, yet. And that why we STILL do business with them. Its unfortunate but... that’s how the situation is.

China has 90% of the rare earths because the West won’t allow mining for them.

There are ore bodies in the West. They could be mined.

But one of the power strategies of Globohomo is to create as many import dependencies as possible. So they use “the environment” to stop any new mines.

There is much more power for the Administrative State with international trade and imports, than there is with domestic production.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You did the right analysis.
And what will Republicans, Democrats, Patriots do about it?
Not much.
Even Trump can’t do much about it, even though he would do a bit better in that area than the others.
He would allow the drilling again at least - if there is the right opportunity to do so.

You really asked that question? OMG.

Ok, deep breath, respond civilly...

For one, Israel has expended a LOT of munitions on Hamas since 10/7/2023. Prior to that there were the “routine” clonkings of the many terrorist groups / cells.

Missile attacks on Israel use up a lot of interceptors, plus munitions used to respond. Here is some reading material for you, covering many years including those under discussion:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_Palestinian_rocket_attacks_on_Israel

Further research is encouraged. :-)
