From memory......

Dredged for deeper drafts.
Doubled volume of transits.......

Did nothing on increasing water reserves/holding lakes.

Designed by Frenchmen.
Finished by Americans.

Trashed by 3rd Worlders......

There is no such thing as human caused climate change worldwide. There is local climate impact e.g. Chernoble.

Translation: Gatun Lake has been naturally silting in and no longer holds the same quantity of water.

Hold up…

I thought “climate change!!!” was causing the seas to RISE.
Remember?.. the polar caps are melting and NYC will be under water by 2010!!!

How are they able to sustain this b.s. after years of the opposite if their scare predictions and the constant reversal of their mantras?

It’s basically a problem of bad engineering. But go ahead and blame CO2.

LOL! Just as I suspected, they left out some critical information that doesn’t suit their agenda.

The Panamanians expanded the canal a few years ago using the plans drawn up by American engineers many years ago when the US still ran the canal. All well and good. But the expansion plans called for a 2nd river to be damned and another large reservoir to be created which would help offset the increased water usage from the expanded canal.

The Panamanians didn’t do that part.

So now they’re using more water than ever due to the expansion but they’re doing it from the original reservoir which was never designed to be able to accommodate a canal that large. The result - which should come as no surprise - is that they’re running low on water.

So naturally these propagandists take that as an opportunity to push Gaia worship without ever bothering to mention the reason why the canal doesn’t have the water to operate at full capacity and instead attributing it all to “climate change”.

This is what happens when you let the Chinese run something.

They added a third lane or lock in a section of the canal. When US engineers planned for this expansion they included an additional man made Lake to supply the needed water. When the Panamanians took over the canal they completed the canal work but never built the new lake. That is the reason they are having problems now.

Ok, is there a reason(s) why we can’t open the gate’s on the PC and keep the other gates closed for the fresh water gates. Let the water equalize and then start opening the side gates and refill the tanks/lakes. If the side tanks/lakes go to be salty then the locals will have to adjust to it.

Of course! This MUST be the fault of capitalism. It CAN’T be caused by the recent doubling of ship capacity or the doubling of water usage required by the recent widening of the Panama canal. /s

Great reporting by "Mie Hoejris Dahl, a Danish freelance journalist based in Mexico City!" < s a r c >
More on this fine writer: "Mie Hoejris Dahl is a Danish freelance journalist based in Mexico City. She covers politics, economics, environmental, and social issues in Latin America and holds a master’s in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School."
This article, to date, is her ONLY "analysis" found on Foreign Policy, which wants $20 a month or $200 a year to read online what I just read online for free....

Some "climate change" Foreign Policy editor bought it from her, because "climate change..."

"Foreign Policy" as a rag publication is buying such as this, as American media "journalists" are losing jobs because fewer and fewer people read / subscribe / advertise.

That is because the oceans are overflowing with melting ice and flooding all low lying areas, except the Panama Canal which is made of ice and therefore melting into dry land.

The principle is that anything and everything real or imagined that is bad is due to Climate Change, Trump, Jews, Christian nationalists, or the far Right. The science is in determining which one.

The fix in every case is that purest form of socialism where nearly everyone is equally impoverished, worshiping and enslaved to a tiny aristocracy of self-proclaimed demigods.

I thought the oceans were rising because all that ice at the poles was melting.
